Creating Balance No longer taking new clients as i am winding down In this way, the feet can be seen as a map of the body. Not to be used in place of conventional medical care.

A little about what I do

All sessions begin with a consultation to encourage discussion and clarify the right therapy for you. Holistic Therapies including

Reflexology - CRM5,

An ancient practice from more than 5,000 years ago including the Egyptian and Chinese cultures. Reflexology is a popular and relaxing treatment based on the principle that reflex points on the soles of the feet correspond to areas throughout the body. I would work on the reflex points with my thumbs, fingers or knuckles, using specialised massage techniques, thought to help correct imbalances throughout the body. The initial session will last about 90 minutes due to the need for a consultation form to be completed after this regular sessions will last up to an hour. At the first session I will cleanse and complete a visual observation of your feet while creating a relaxing environment. You will be offered a choice of massage wax from a selection I have collected, I will encourage you to lie back and relax while I work. Benefits of reflexology include:

Relief from stress, anxiety and tension. Improved sleep
Improved mood
A general sense of health and well-being
Feelings of deep relaxation. Often used alongside conventional care

Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage has been used around Asia for more than 5,000 year. The therapy has been adapted to include modern western techniques. Indian head massage is a massage therapy that works specifically on the area surrounding the head, scalp, face and neck, extending to the shoulders and the upper back. The session can last up to 45 minutes and often shortened for workplace sessions. All sessions begin with a consultation to encourage discussion and clarify the right therapy for you. You can remain fully clothed although a lightweight T shirt would be recommended or if you prefer an oil to be used upper clothing removed and a large towel, used to ensure modesty, applied

I will invite you to take a seat on a low back chair or a special lean into chair to enable me to access your upper back, neck, shoulders and head. I will encourage you to let me know at any time during the session if you are uncomfortable or to correct the pressure I am using. Reiki

Reiki is a non-invasive complimentary therapy, using natural energy flow for health and well-being. The gentle nature of Reiki means that it is suitable for all ages. Reiki was founded in Japan by Mikao Usui in the early 1900s. The Reiki Council defines Reiki as “Universal Life Energy” which describes the many systems of natural balancing. Reiki can be used on the whole body or on a specific area

A full session can last between 45 to 90 minutes, with a localised treatment lasting approximately 20 minutes. You will remain fully clothed and asked to lie on a couch or seated in a chair

You can choose whether you prefer hands on or near to the body, I may follow a fixed routine of movements or using my intuition to go where I feel I need to be. You may feel warmth, tingling an deep relaxation

After care

After any therapy you will be advised to drink plenty of water, rest and avoid smoking and alcohol. You may feel tired or lack concentration even emotional but these feelings will pass, although I firmly believe that being kind and gentle to yourself after any therapy will enhance and encourage the feeling of relaxation. Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy can be used to help treat various symptoms and conditions. The evidence for its effectiveness varies and often further research is required. The therapeutic qualities of the oils are thought to soothe, uplift, restore, boost the immune system and encourage positivity. The symptoms and conditions aromatherapy is thought to help include:

Stress

Certain scents can trigger a relaxation response in the brain. When combined with a massage, it can help to reduce feelings of stress. It is important to discover the cause of your stress to ensure long-term management. Anxiety

Studies have found that aromatherapy can have a positive effect on those suffering with anxiety. As a complementary therapy, it is best used with other therapies such as talking therapy. Insomnia

Many people find aromatherapy a helpful aid for sleep. Burning a relaxing scent in your home or adding essential oils to a warm, evening bath can help prepare your body and mind for sleep. Dementia

The interest in the effects of aromatherapy for conditions such as dementia continues to grow. Research into the therapy revealed many benefits and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) suggests it may help treat feelings of agitation in those with dementia. Chronic pain

Aromatherapy is thought to be especially helpful for easing any chronic pain-related anxiety. If the pain is muscular, a massage using essential oils may be an effective treatment. As with any new therapy, please consult your GP before starting. Cancer

Aromatherapy may help to reduce pain and anxiety for those with cancer in the short-term. According to Cancer Research UK, many people with cancer turn to aromatherapy. It appears to make patients feel happier and more able to cope with the changes happening. No therapy I provide are to be used in place of your GP or medical care. I would encourage discussion with your GP if you have a long standing condition and wish to use a therapy to compliment your conventional medical therapies.

THE ONLY “RIGHT” WAY TO PRACTICE HEALING IS WHAT WORKS!

When I took my first steps on a healing path the numerous organisations offering teachings and certificates didn’t appeal to me. Too often they came across as old fashioned and a tad frowsy, their teachings often dogmatic.

I became essentially self-taught, inspired by some of the great healers whose work I admired. Having watched films of Harry Edwards’ public demonstrations of healing, I emulated his work and gained experience in different settings - including, on occasion, nightclubs in America! Some of my early workshops were held in the back rooms of pubs in this country.

I’d met the respected healer M.H. Tester who told me that “if you can heal, you can do it anywhere - even if a bomb goes off outside the building!” He was right - and I’ve never felt the need for reverential silence or totems of healing when working.

That “apprenticeship” was essential when later I often demonstrated healing in television studios - it was easy for me to detach from the cameras, lights, noise and chatter - and gave me great confidence.

Last week I read about a micro pub not far from St Neots in Cambridgeshire (where I am based), that had applied for permission to officially use an outdoor courtyard. The nearby spiritualist church had raised objections because of the impact noise could have on their healing sessions.

“A major part of healing is done in silence. Since the pub has been there it has been a bugbear to us,” they said. “So much noise, it has really compromised the healing.”

The changes to the pub’s license were granted by the council but I really hope that it doesn’t affect the church’s healing sessions. It wouldn’t bother or distract me because once I start to play my music, external disturbances recede as I dissolve into a channel for healing.

I can only tell you what works for me - I believe that a universal unconditional love flows through me when I’m healing and silence isn’t necessary. But there are a multitude of approaches to healing - the only one that is right is what works for you.
