Good luck to pupils in Wirral who are receiving their A-level results today. If things don’t go to plan, please don't worry.
Local lad Dan Parnell is CEO of the Association of Sporting Directors and a Technical Expert for FIFA, based right here in Birkenhead. He didn’t get the results he wanted, but went on to get into university, which he says was tough.
Dan said: “I stuck with it, completed a doctorate and became an Associate Professor at the University of Liverpool. In my work I’ve researched the careers of senior football executives. Even for high performers, I’ve seen every kind of journey – my own included.”
Dan, who went to school in Birkenhead, believes, regardless of results, what matters most is how you apply yourself.
Dan said: “It’s things like staying curious, always learning, and surrounding yourself with people who both support and challenge you. Whether it’s in school, in work, or in life, keep learning and keep showing up. Get good at something. Then get great at it. That’s what opens doors you never thought possible.”
