All of us at Heart Wood are so proud of Rachel, our wonderful Administrator, who won the Unsung Hero award last week for her volunteering work at Allendale Football Club. Rachel gives so much to so many and massively deserves this award. Well done Rachel!

🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️ We’re thrilled to share that our four incredible Great North Run heroes — Marek, Zak, Jack, and Rachel — have raised an amazing £3,111 in sponsorship, plus gift aid!

But that’s not all…

🍽️ A huge shoutout to Marek and the fabulous team at Hjem, who hosted a sensational Sunday lunch and raffle, raising an additional £4,560!

🎉 That brings our grand total to an astonishing £7,671 (plus gift aid!) — all thanks to the passion, energy, and generosity of our runners, supporters, and everyone who donated. We are truly blown away

👟 Looking ahead to Great North Run 2026 — we’re hoping to secure charity places again! If you’d love to run for us and make a difference, drop us a message. We’d love to have you on the team!

Kathryn is walking the length of Hadrians Wall throughout July, in memory of her son Stuart. Kathryn has fundraised for Heart Wood several times over recent years, she is a true inspiration and we are forever grateful.

The money Kathryn raises will directly support our groups and make a difference to local men throughout Tynedale.

Last month Heart Wood Mental Health Charity asked yellow cherry design to create a series of bookmark designs for a fundraiser . Each bookmark showing a different quote taken from men who benefit from the charity and all it does! Here are just a few!

Restaurant Hjem Head Chef Marek is part of our Great North Run team; he will be taking on the worlds biggest half marathon in September.

Last month Marek and the team at Hjem held the most wonderful Sunday Lunch raising funds for Heart Wood. We were truly blowen away by the kindness and generosity of Marek the team at Hjem and their suppliers who donated all the ingredients for the most delicious Sunday Lunch. In addition, local businesses and friends of Hjem and Heart Wood came together and provided some amazing prizes for 2 raffles that were held on the day. The final amount raised was £4560, a huge amount which will go a long way in supporting our men’s groups throughout the year. We want to extend our thanks to all those who made this wonderful event happen. We truly are grateful.

Allendale Challenge Complete
What a day, well done to team Heart Wood who between them covered 78 miles of the North Pennines. The weather was glorious but it was still hard going.

In 3 days time Emma, Rachel and Ian are taking on the muddiest of challenges - The Allendale Challenge. A 26 mile route taking in the finest Bogs in the North Pennines.
The intrepid trio are so close to their fundraising target of £750 with all monies raised going to support our men's groups.
