This page documents the creation of the Uk's permanent science-fiction museum in the north-east of England. The museum is situated in Allendale Town- an extremely picturesque village in the North Pennines. Visitors to the museum will be able to find lovely coffee shops and amenities on hand, as well as stunning walks. The idea for the museum stemmed from my lifelong fascination with science-fiction. It tells the story of a young boy who dreamt of travelling to other planets- but didn’t quite make it. Instead, he had a lot of fun watching, reading, collecting, drawing, making and dreaming. From a handful of action figures and comics and staying up very late to catch old B&W movies with his Dad, this interest never waned. The museum sets out to tell a brief history of science-fiction from H.G.Wells to the current day through my experience of the genre. It will of course be biased to those movies, comics and ideas that have most affected me personally. The story will be told with many original, screen-used props and costumes, production items, animation cels and published artwork. This journey highlights the landmark worlds of Wells, ‘Doctor Who’ and ‘Star Wars’, whilst also exploring key genre themes, such as robotics and dystopia. I will also be producing original, unique artwork for the museum. Keep checking back to the page to follow the ever changing museum!

Restoration 'before and after' number 5- The Terileptil Leader mask from the wonderful 1982 Fifth Doctor classic - 'The Visitation'.... I had visited this pioneering mask for many years at exhibition and had always wondered....is that a ping-pong ball with a square felt marker pupil that's been used as an eye? The answer was of course- yes!!!!🤣 I was pleased to be able to sculpt in a new eye to remedy the situation! I left my newly sculpted areas in white to mark which areas were original and which my restoration. #

When this picture popped up in my feed a couple of days ago....it took me that long to process it! I am genuinely blown away to have considered worthy of joining the truly hallowed halls of Reeltime Pictures Myth Makers range of Doctor Who/cult interview DVDS....honestly....amazed. I just need to thank Keith Barnfather who so kindly involved myself and the museum a few years back now in the Lockdown documentary....and whom now has become such a dear freind. I do hope those who attended the filming also found some value in my ramblings....I was quite tired from running the day's events by the time I took to the stage!!!🤣 Also a huge thank you to Sophie Henderson who was just so lovely (as always) to talk to!

Well, apparently, I'm getting my own Myth Makers DVD release!!!! Which has left me speechless tbh. Anyway, what I can say is how wonderful it was to sit opposite Sophie and be interviewed by Ace. With Keith filming. Sublime and surreal..... Thank you to everyone who has shared my Doctor Who journey alongside me ❤️

After his triumphant return to the River Thames to see where he lost that blasted homing transmitter, the original '75 Skarasen is now making himself at home in the museum at Allendale....next to his old boss Broton. If you are passing... Do drop in and say hello to them both! Again....such a fabulous weekend at the Zygons screening at the BFI - just the biggest thank you to Mike Tucker for making this stunning display possible in the first place. # # #

What can I say? Yesterday' s BFI event in London was simply fabulous- an unexpected blast! Being on stage with Mike Tucker was brilliant (especially when he proceeded to perform his tribute to Rod Hull😂), accompanied by two - yes two(!) Skarasen! Seeing the incredible new version alongside the original was a rare treat! Just a huge thank you to everyone who made the BFI screening of Terror of the Zygons such a memorable day. Bedwyr Gullidge was just the best at my side helping ferry Skarasi and as unofficial photographer!!!! The biggest thank you to everyone who took the time to come and speak to me and also apologies for Timothey Rodmell....sorry, I didn't quite get the chance to talk properly- but it was lovely seeing you! Also, it was so good to see Rob Allsopp and get a chance to chat with Phillip Hincliffe and Richard Bignell. Justin and Dick put together a wonderful day- thanks so much for the invite...and to Chris Chapman and Mike Tucker for getting me involved in all the Skarasen shenanigans!!!!

Our Story

Please note: the museum will reopen on October 24th! This page is to document the creation of a new permanent science-fiction museum in the north-east of England. I hope to open in about a year, (although I suspect it will be about a year and a half, as I’m the creative designer, builder and everything else in between!). The museum will be situated in Allendale Town- an extremely picturesque village in the North Pennines. This journey highlights the landmark worlds of Wells, ‘Doctor Who’ and ‘Star Wars’, whilst also exploring key genre themes, such as robotics and dystopia. Keep checking back to the page to see the museum (and its inhabitants!) begin to develop over the next year or so…the countdown has begun… Neil Cole: Artist & Curator- 2015
