👸🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Lionesses star Hannah Hampton has become England's hero - despite being told by doctors that she would never be a footballer!

The goalkeeper was born with a condition called strabismus - meaning her eyes are misaligned. A trio of surgeries before the age of 5 failed to solve the issue.

Aged 11, Hampton was told that she had a depth perception problem, meaning she has difficulties judging distances and spatial issues. Medics told her becoming a pro footballer - never mind a GOALKEEPER - was out of the question and urged her to consider something different.

13 years later and she is England's hero and a European Champion! 👏

What is included in our assessments?
- An initial discussion to outline your concerns and gather a developmental and medical history
- A face to face assessment with your child in the most appropriate space for them
- Standardised Assessments as appropriate
- Clinical Observations of your child
- Answering your questions as appropriate
- Signposting to other services/agencies who could support your child
- Comprehensive Report including a plan of action for your child from an occupational therapy perspective

"We contacted Olivia as we were looking for an occupational therapist who could support our son with his sensory processing difficulties.

The whole process was so quick and straightforward. We had our initial consultation with Olivia and she then arranged an observation in school, as we felt this was the best place to understand L.

Olivia's proactiveness in liaising with school and the promptness with which she provided her written report was fantastic, as this meant we had valuable supporting evidence for the EHCP application.

Whilst reading Olivia's report we felt like she really saw L for who he was and what he is capable of. We are looking forward to the next steps, including L having some 1:1 sessions in school and at the clinic.

Olivia is exactly who we needed at exactly the right time, and we are so grateful for her input"

Why do we offer intensive therapy blocks as well as the traditional approach of weekly therapy sessions?

Because intensive therapy blocks for children offer benefits such as accelerated progress, increased independence and a boost in confidence, particularly when focused on motor skills and neurological development.

Our blocks involve concentrated therapy sessions over a short period of time, supporting children to reach their developmental milestones and goals, improve their functional participation and increase their overall confidence.

Do you ever watch your child’s therapy session and think “they just play the same games over and over” 🤔

Well there is a very good reason for this - because repetition of any movement or skill supports the development and growth of neural pathways in a child’s brain. This is known as neuroplasticity, and a child’s brain is very receptive to this as they learn and develop daily 🧠

Therefore the more a movement is repeated the more progress your child is likely to have in that area of development, hence why we play the same games over and over again 💡

✨Sensory Profile - to break down specific areas of sensory concern for your child
✨Face to Face Assessments - this is completed in the most appropriate setting for your child
✨Comprehensive Report - to include OT recommendations to support your child’s areas of sensory need moving forward
✨EHCP Support - as required (please speak to us for more details)

basic signs through Rhyme, Play & Song. Sign language is inclusive for everyone.

What are we working on with this activity❓

As an occupational therapist we adapt activities to support a child to meet their personalised child-centred goals.

In this session we are focusing on:
✨ Visual Perception
✨ Bimanual Activity
✨ Orientation
✨ Letter Recognition
✨ Hand Strength
✨ Communication Skills

Our speciality is knowing how to adapt any toy to support the goals we are progressing towards with the child, ensuring therapy is fun and engaging.
