🤩How to Help Plantar Fasciitis at Home

If you’re struggling with plantar fasciitis, one of the most IMPORTANT things you can do is start STRETCHING your calves and feet — and the sooner you start once you realise there’s a problem, the sooner you’ll begin to feel RELIEF .

Consistent stretching helps REDUCE tension through the foot and heel, SUPPORTS healing, and gets you back to moving more COMFORTABLY.

Small daily actions really do add up 💙

When heel pain starts to ease, you can start to feel:
✨Relief
✨Hopeful
and
✨Confident again

And that often means getting back to things you like:
😁Enjoying walks again
😁Standing comfortably at work or around the house
😁Exercising without constantly thinking about your heel

This is why we’ve created

“3 Simple Stretches to Heal Your Heels”

An online guide giving you instant access to the same 3 stretches we prescribe to our patients in the clinic.

We show you how to do the right stretches, in the right way, at the right time AND, done consistently, we know they work 👍

What are the Symptoms of Plantar Fasciitis and 3 Ways You Can Avoid it?

Do you have a pain in your heel? 👣

You might be dealing with plantar fasciitis.

Common symptoms include:

👉 Pain in the bottom of your heel

👉 Pain that’s worst first thing in the morning — that moment when you get out of bed and hobble to the bathroom like you’re 30 years older than you actually are!(bathroom first stop… obviously🤣)

👉 The pain eases as you get moving, but returns on standing again when you’ve been sitting at your desk, resting or after long periods on your feet

Here’s 3 ways you can help to avoid plantar fasciitis in the first place:

⭐️Choose footwear wisely — replace worn-out shoes and wear the right footwear for the right occasion

⭐️Stretch your calves and feet daily — small habit = big impact

⭐️Increase exercise gradually — whilst your feet are great at adapting sometimes they don’t like sudden surprises

If heel pain sounds and feels familiar to you, your feet may be asking for a little extra care 👣💙

4️⃣ Reasons to Use Laser Therapy for a Speedier Recovery from Foot Pain.

How does it feel for you when you participate in activities that support your health and wellbeing to a level that makes you happy?

Feels GREAT right? When we feel great then that feeling is carried over to all aspects of our lives 🤩

Laser therapy can help you get back to this level of GREAT if you are suffering with foot pain that is impacting on your ability to participate in those activities that support you and your life.

Here’s how it can help >>

✅ By encouraging blood flow into the area being treated that, in turn, means the cells have a better supply of oxygen and nutrients and waste products are flushed out

✅ It reduces pain by slowing down the speed of the pain messages in the nerves to the brain

✅ It reduces inflammation by lowering the number of cells that promote the inflammatory process

✅ And so, reducing pain and inflammation means that, following laser treatment, the muscles are better able to relax and movement can become easier as a result

Laser therapy can be successful in treating a wide range of problems and here at Stepwise Podiatry New Mills we have been using it to help our patients with

👍 foot and knee osteoarthritis,

👍plantar fasciitis/heel pain,

👍Achillies Tendonitis,

👍ankle sprains,

👍lower leg oedema (swelling) and

👍pain arising from the ball of the foot.

If you’re struggling with foot pain at the moment and want to move towards getting back to your activities so you can feel GREAT again, then book your appointment using the link in our bio

3️⃣ Ways Laser Therapy Works to Reduce Pain and Inflammation Whilst Promoting Healing and Increasing Movement

➡️Uses the power of light energy directly into inflamed or damaged tissue to accelerate the body’s natural healing process

➡️When it is placed directly in contact with the skin it enables specific wavelengths of light to pe*****te the tissue.

➡️This light interacts with molecules within the cells to cause several biochemical effects

Laser therapy can be successful in treating a wide range of problems and here at Stepwise Podiatry New Mills we have been using it to help our patients with

✅foot and knee osteoarthritis

✅plantar fasciitis/heel pain

✅Achilles Tendonitis

✅ankle sprains

✅lower leg oedema (swelling) and

✅pain arising from the ball of the foot.

The finer details of how the laser works to promote healing, increase movement and reduce inflammation and pain are a bit mind blowing 🤯

but

what we know is that it does work really well for many of our patients

If you are having trouble with your feet, from ill-fitting footwear or not, we can help relieve your pain and show you how to reduce foot problems again in the future and yes, sometimes that includes guidance on choosing better footwear 🤩👣

Poorly fitted footwear isn’t just uncomfortable—it can contribute to a wide range of preventable foot problems.

From corns and calluses to bunions, collapsed arches and postural issues, the impact of ill-fitting shoes can be long-lasting. For professionals in footwear and health, recognising the signs of poor fit is critical.

At SSF, we train professionals to look beyond the size label and understand what really makes a shoe healthy and suitable.

Imagine what a joy it will be when you wake up and take those first steps without bracing for heel pain.

It’s going to feel great, right? 🤩

It all becomes possible with the right stretches, at the right time, in the right way and, in around 10 minutes a day, can make a real difference🙌

👣One of the most effective things you can do for heel pain caused by plantar fasciitis is calf stretching.

Tight calf muscles increase strain on your plantar fascia and can worsens your heel pain.

Daily stretching can reduce tension and help relieve stress on the plantar fascia helping it to heal more effectively

So, if you’re struggling with that stubborn heel pain that just won’t quit, calf stretches are a great place to start 👍👣

👣 Heel pain first thing in the morning? You’re definitely not alone.

One of the most common causes is plantar fasciitis - this is where the thick band of tissue that covers bones, ligaments, tendons and muscles on the bottom of your foot (from your heel bone to the ball of your foot), becomes damaged and that leads to the pain you feel.

This is really common especially with your first few steps in the morning being particularly bad

The good news? You can start to improve your pain within 8-12 weeks with the right stretching.

It also helps to understand why this pain is happening for you, so you can take the right steps (literally!) toward relief.
