Biscuit - before we’d even started our session he had been in his stabled for about 10 minutes picking up all the energy from Forrest’s session and he was yawning his head off. Which was surprising seeing as he has NEVER had reiki before. 😇
With new horses I’m always cautious that they get used to my energy before I go into the stable and sometimes during the first session, I don’t.
But I was in awe that Biscuit had already started absorbing the beautiful healing energy around him. ✨

The lightest of touch, the calmness, the still and quiet was a very ethereal feeling for everyone who was there. It was a beautiful reaction and we all had the best morning. 💫🙏

Finding peace after a reiki session allows the body to do what it needs to heal

Today something incredible happened.
It’s always a privilege share time and spaces with horses and owners, but Forrest & Alison Higgins have been spending a lot of time and effort recently to find peace, calm and connection with each other. I’m so pleased with the wonderful results we saw today. Sometimes it takes a while to gain the trust of the horse but once you’ve got it, that’s it.
Forrest found peaceful calm and stayed put for around 15 minutes. He then decided he needed a lie down. Now for a practitioner , that’s huge!
I’m so pleased for them and to be able help them in such a profound way.

Horses and ponies are so receptive to energy, good and bad. They can feel your energy even before you've got to their field or stable. Do you find your horse or pony mirrors your energy, maybe you didn't realise?
Reiki is a great addition to your routine, it can help calm and anxious horse and rider, it can help unlock blocked emotions or find where the pain is coming from, it can make pain better.
It can help bring the horse's energy back into balance, just with the gentle hands on touch of a practitioner.
If you are interested in booking a session, let me know.

Right. A gentle reality check for late-February brains. 🌤️

Your horse has had a wobbly winter.
Maybe less work than you planned.
Maybe more standing in mud than you’d like to admit.
Maybe you’re only just finding your rhythm again.

And now the light is changing.

You feel that twitch in your chest.
The “we should be doing more” itch.
The quiet comparison creeping in as other people start posting sunny arena shots.

Pause.

They are horses. Not productivity projects. 🐴

They are not tracking their step count.
They are not panicking about their spring body.
They are not in the field thinking, “I’ve absolutely wasted Q1.”

What they care about is this:

Are they fed.
Do they have forage.
Are they safe.
Can they move.
Do they have friends.
Are they allowed to just… be horses.

A slower winter does not erase your partnership.
A few weeks of lighter work does not dissolve muscle into thin air.
Bodies remember. Tendons adapt. Cardiovascular fitness returns steadily when brought back with sense.

Research in equine physiology consistently shows that gradual reconditioning restores aerobic fitness and muscle tone far quicker than people fear. What causes problems is panic training. Not patience.

The pressure you feel right now is seasonal human urgency. It is not an equine emergency.

You do not need to sprint into March.
You do not need a dramatic “we’re back” montage.
You do not need to apologise for winter.

Start where you are.

Hack if hacking feels good.
Stretch if stretching feels good.
Hand-graze in the longer light if that is all you have energy for.

Let winter loosen its grip without forcing spring to arrive early. 🌱

Your horse is fine.
You’re allowed to be too.

They really do, whether it's a comforting energy or if you've had a bad day they know before you get out of the car.

So, why not go with this thought, try changing your energy a little to see how your horse reacts, soften yourself a little. slow down when you saddle up to ride, take sometime to snuggle in and feel that wonderful squishy muzzle giving back some love and kindness. Every minute spent with your horse or pony (yes even if it's being a pickle) is time well spent.

Horses do not close their eyes for comfort.
They close their eyes when they have decided the space is settled.

Their eyes stay open through wind and sudden noise,
through unfamiliar movement and human uncertainty.
They remain open while the world is assessed,
while nothing is taken for granted.

Then something changes.

You stop trying to shape the moment.
Your body becomes quiet without effort.
There is no demand in the space.

The sharpness leaves their gaze.
The watchfulness softens.

This is not submission.
It is discernment.

The horse has decided you do not need to be monitored.

When their eyelids lower beside you, even briefly,
that is enough.

It means attention has been released.

For an animal built for survival,
choosing not to watch
is an act of deep trust.

Be honoured the horse closes their eyes beside you.
