Super proud of my sponsored rider Abi Goddard and Eddie at the BRC Naf National Championships

It was Ed’s first stay away and he ended up with 2 top 10 placings with 70%+ marks - 9th in the Novice and 7th in the Prelim taking an overall team 2nd for High Wycombe Riding Club 🥈

Just love watching these two do what they do best 😍❤️

📣 Cancellations and late payments 📣

I always try and be as fair as possible when it comes to cancellations and late payments as 99% of the time I have no issues and I understand that sometimes extenuating circumstances arise.

However, I have had an increasing number of last minute cancellations and overdue payments that I feel a reminder is needed.

If you need to cancel a treatment within 24 hours of an appointment, then a fee of £30 per horse will incur. This is because with such short notice I often struggle to fill the slot.

I have been quite lenient with regards to when invoices need to be paid but I am finding it increasingly difficult to keep track of late payments. Therefore, can I please ask that all invoices be paid no later than one week after the invoice has been issued.

Thank you to the majority of my clients who normally give me plenty of notice and pay on time ❤️

“My horse is yawning they must be so tired”

I hear this a lot during treatments. However, did you know that unlike humans, where the main cause of yawning is tiredness, there are many reasons as to why horses yawn. Tiredness is actually at the bottom of the list!

Horses may yawn:

✅ To lower stress

✅ As a social behaviour

✅ To relieve gastrointestinal distress

✅ Because of discomfort

✅ To release tension

✅ Tiredness

As a physio, 9/10 times, a yawn is a response to muscular release during treatment and is a positive sign that the horse is feeling the effects!

There has been a huge increase in laminitis cases recently and practices are reporting more this year than last year.

The grass is a huge contributory factor, but it’s multifactorial; hormones, horses that are overweight and insufficient exercise.

It’s so important to keep an eye on your horse’s weight and be aware of what you’re feeding.

Please be vigilant and check for the subtle signs. Prevention is better than a cure!
