Have you seen the full moon tonight? She looks stunning. The photo below is the full moon over Rochdale tonight. It’s not mine (credit below) but is identical to the view out from our friend’s balcony.
Tonight’s full moon is called the Wolf Moon — the first full moon of 2026 — and carries rich spiritual symbolism tied to both ancient tradition and inner work:
🌕 Renewal & New Beginnings –
As the first full moon of the year, it marks a natural time to reset, release what no longer serves you, and set intentions for 2026. It invites you to start fresh with clarity and purpose. (Ref: EBB & FLO)
🐺 Intuition & Inner Strength –
The name “Wolf Moon” comes from old folk calendars and Indigenous traditions, where January’s long winter nights were echoed by the calls of wolves. Spiritually this is linked with instinct, inner wisdom, and trusting your deeper guidance as the world around you grows clear and still. (Ref: Time and Date)
🏡 Connection & Reflection –
This lunar phase encourages introspection, emotional honesty, and reconnecting with loved ones or your “pack.” It’s a moment both for solitary reflection and strengthening bonds that sustain you. (Ref: The Pagan Grimoire)
🧘♀️ Emotional Awareness & Healing – Especially with the moon in Cancer (a sign of home, nurture, and feelings), many traditions see this as a time to nurture your emotional life, release old patterns, and tune into your heart’s truth. (Ref: Bustle)
Spiritually, the Wolf Moon teaches endurance, community, intuition, and renewal, making it a meaningful celestial marker as the new year unfolds. (Ref: The Pagan Grimoire)
