What happens if your stoma supplies get lost while travelling?

It’s a question many don’t think about until it’s too late.
If you’re travelling with a stoma, having the right travel insurance isn’t just a formality, it’s essential.

Lost luggage can mean lost stoma bags, barrier wipes, adhesive rings… and if your travel insurance doesn’t cover delayed or lost medical supplies, you could be left without the essentials you rely on.

Do I need travel insurance if I have a stoma?
Yes, especially one that covers medical emergencies and the unexpected, like lost supplies or hospital visits abroad.

Look for policies that include:

Medical equipment coverageReimbursement for emergency replacements
24/7 medical support line
Full cover for your stoma & any related conditions

Top tip: Always pack at least 2–3 days’ worth of stoma supplies in your hand luggage. And declare your stoma when buying insurance — it matters more than you think.
