Domiciliary Care Work and Mental Well-being

Domiciliary care work can be one of the most rewarding careers, offering the opportunity to support and build meaningful relationships with incredible people. However, it also comes with challenges. Shift patterns, the deep bonds formed with clients, and the emotional impact of saying goodbye sometimes through loss or grief, can take their toll.

When combined with pressures outside the workplace, these experiences may lead some care workers to face mental health challenges. At Care Resource Bureau, we recognise this and are committed to taking steps to reduce these pressures wherever possible.

As a responsible employer, we place the well-being of our team at the heart of what we do. We actively support our staff, encourage open conversations about mental health, and provide guidance on how care workers can best protect their own well-being while continuing to provide exceptional care to others.

September is World Alzheimer’s Month, a time to raise awareness of a disease that touches so many lives.
At Care Resource Bureau, we work closely with clients living with Dementia, and every day we see both the challenges it brings and the incredible care, patience, and kindness that our carers provide.

Dementia is a cruel disease, but we believe that with understanding and support, life can still be full of comfort, dignity, and meaningful moments. This month, we want to shine a light on all the wonderful people, families, carers, and companions who make such a difference in the lives of those affected.

Live-in Care Service

At Care Resource Bureau Ltd, we take pride in providing compassionate, reliable, and personalised live-in care. All of our carers are carefully hand-picked and fully trained to the highest standards, ensuring our clients receive a safe, professional, and quality service centred entirely around their needs.
To maintain excellence, our carers also undertake regular refresher training in both standard care and specialist support when required.

Our aim is to help our clients live as independently and comfortably as possible in their own home. We support a “normal” home life, taking into account any physical or cognitive impairments, and encourage activities and outings that promote mental stimulation, physical wellbeing, and an improved quality of life.

While our main focus is care at home, our carers can accompany and assist you almost anywhere, including during holidays, to ensure your safety and comfort at all times.

If you have a medical appointment, we can support in several ways, including escorting you so you don’t have to attend alone. For eligible clients, we can also arrange transport via the NHS transport service or through private arrangements, depending on your preference.

Our goal is to provide peace of mind for our clients and their loved ones by combining professional care with genuine compassion.

Spinal Muscular Atrophy Awareness Month occurs every August and aims to increase knowledge about this disease, as well as to promote the support of the individuals and families who are impacted by it.

Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is a rare, genetic disease affecting the neuromuscular systems, causing muscles to become weak and eventually stop working. This includes not only physical movements, but also impacts the ability to swallow and eventually even to breathe. The cause of this is related to the nerve cells in the spinal cord that enable a person to control their muscle movement.

We offer specialist care to many families who are impacted by neuromuscular diseases and you can find out more by visiting our website www.careresourcebureau.co.uk

PALLIATIVE CARE

At the End of Life, many people wish to spend their final weeks or months in the safety and familiarity of their own home, surrounded by the people and memories they love.

At Care Resource Bureau Ltd, we make this possible providing exceptional, person-centred palliative care either through NHS Continuing Healthcare funding or private arrangements. However the service is accessed, the level of care is always the same: attentive, dignified, and in place within 24 hours.

We believe that being present at the end of someone’s life is a profound privilege. Whether a life has been long or short, those final moments deserve to be peaceful, personal, and respectful.

Our role goes beyond meeting medical and practical needs. We are there to ease discomfort, offer reassurance, and provide quiet emotional support not only for the person in our care but for their family and friends. With the right support, even a time of sorrow can hold moments of deep connection, becoming treasured memories that bring comfort long after.

This gentle, compassionate presence is at the heart of everything we do.

HAPPY HOLDING HANDS DAY
Not only is holding hands a delightful practice, as care givers, we know it’s also good for people! Just like hugging and other forms of positive physical contact, holding hands can offer the healing power of touch that humans crave. Did you know it can...

Lower blood pressure
High blood pressure can be an indicator of various types of disease and an unhealthy heart, but touch and hand holding can help to reduce the heart rate and lower the blood pressure.

Reduced stress
The excessive release of stress hormones is bad for the body, but touch such as holding hands or hugging can help to reduce the effects of stress and minimise the release of cortisol and other hormones.

Boost the immune system
Studies have shown that people who receive touch on a regular basis are likely to be better equipped to fight off disease and illness.

Minimise pain
While it has been difficult for scientists to study, there is no doubt that healthy and welcomed touch can act as a pain reliever.

Motor Neuron Disease (MND) is a life-changing condition, but it never defines the spirit of those who live with it.

At Care Resource Bureau Ltd, we believe our carers are more than caregivers they are pillars of strength, compassion, and hope.
In moments when our clients need support the most, our carers are there to lift them up, providing not only practical care but also encouragement, friendship, and comfort.

Every day, we are inspired by the incredible resilience and positivity of our clients. Even in the face of MND’s challenges, they show courage, grace, and a determination to make the most of every moment. Their strength fuels our own.

What truly makes this journey remarkable is the deep, genuine connection between client and carer. Together, they share laughter, face fears, and celebrate victories no matter how small – proving that hope and kindness can shine even in the toughest times.

Because while MND may affect the body, it can never take away the power of human connection, compassion, and love.

We are thrilled to share our wonderful experience at the National Learning Disabilities & Autism Awards Celebration 2025!

This prestigious event honors excellence in supporting people with learning disabilities and pays tribute to the incredible individuals and organizations that excel in providing high-quality care.

We were proud to be nominated for "Supporting Older People with Learning Disabilities Award" and to have the opportunity to celebrate and network with so many inspiring people.

It was our first time attending this fantastic event, and the energy, passion, and commitment in the room were truly inspiring! We can’t wait to continue this journey and hopefully bring home an award in the near future.
