Our Story

Altea was founded in 2005 by Tina McMillian.

A dream was created to make a beautiful centre where anyone could feel the love & magic that resided in its roots. The name Altea came from a book about many planets that came together and wanted a name that consisted of all the syllables from each planet so Altea was formed... and meant 'All are welcome'.

A Buddhist monk popped in and told us about a wonderful place in Spain named Altea... on that we did some research. Altea in Spain was named by the Greeks in 1244 after the goddess Althea meaning I cure and sits by the river Algar meaning river of health. It really was Divine intervention when Altea was born.

Altea provides a unique service, bringing you professional, spa inspired treatments located in the conservation area of Downley, High Wycombe.
