🌻 New Provision 🌻

Whilst Sunshine Bugs Tiney Home Nursery has very limited slots left during the week, I am fortunate enough to be offering a new type of provision!

I can now open for additional provision during school holidays, the first of which is fast approaching! February Half Term is during the week commencing 16th February 2026 and I’m pleased to announce that I will be opening my doors to primary school aged children for 4 of the 5 days during half term.

If you’re a parent who sometimes struggles to find care during the school holidays then please feel free to reach out to see if I can help.

Spaces are limited due to ratios so please ensure you contact me promptly to find out what provision is on offer as I will be offering these spaces on a “first come, first served basis.”

First day ✅

Very tiring to be back at work after being on maternity leave. Was lovely to have some of the children start with me today and we have been very busy.

As with any new job, it’s a huge learning curve and so my mind is racing with ideas on how to improve but for now, I’m just going to enjoy this lovely piece of art work from one of the older siblings of a little one I looked after today 🥰

🌻 Opening TOMORROW 🌻

Tomorrow is officially opening day! I can’t tell you how excited and nervous I am to be embarking on this crazy adventure. Whilst I’ve welcomed all of my registered children for settling in sessions, tomorrow marks the start of our official journey together!

I discovered so much during the settling in sessions and have already adapted the environment to suit the children who are coming. I’ve opened the playroom up so there is much more floor space and I’ve carefully selected play resources to support our first learning theme!

We’re going to start the year by learning all about different birds! I’ve planned lots of fun activities including:
• cooking
• nest building
• making bird feeders
• hook a duck
• egg and spoon races
And so many more games and activities to engage the children and allow them to really immerse themselves in this topic!

I can’t wait to update you all on our journey throughout the week!

🌻 Preparing for the New Year 🌻

I have been super busy with settling in sessions and preparing for Christmas but in between the chaos, I’ve been preparing for the New Year behind the scenes. 🤪

I’ve chosen our first topic of the year and I’ve been planning activities and gathering resources so that the children can really immerse themselves in the new topic and have lots of opportunities for play, exploration and learning!

I’ve chosen a great book to share with the little ones that is linked to our topic and as an introductory activity, I’ve made a little story umbrella to help children become more familiar with the story and objects from the story.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing details about our topic, chosen story and activities I’ve got planned so keep your eyes peeled! 👀

🌻 It’s been a big week for news! 🌻

This week has been insanely busy and I’m getting into the swing of being a business owner and a mother! But anyone who knows me knows I’ve never been keen on the quiet life. 🤪

I thought I’d just swing by and share some exciting news from the week! I’m honestly having the best time spending time with new families and helping children to settle in. I’m very much looking forward to more settling in sessions over the next few weeks and getting my next sets of contracts out to families.

I can not wait to officially open up in January! It’s all starting to feel very real! 🌻

I can't believe that I am finally writing this but my registration process is finally complete! It took a little longer than expected due to a delay in paperwork but this has worked out perfectly.

We have an official opening date of Monday 5th January 2026! If you're a parent who has already visited and registered interest then you will be receiving an e-mail shortly to advise you of your next steps.

If you're a parent who thinks that I might be the childminder for you then please reach out as soon as possible as we are already almost FULLY BOOKED.

Just a quick update on where I am in the registration process.
In order to register as a childminder, any adult in the household is required to hold a relevant DBS certificate. My husband and I both hold a DBS certificate from other employment but we both need to have one that is specific to the childminding setting. We have been chasing these certificates for almost 3 months now but have now been moved to high priority due to the length of time taken.

Please note that the length of time taken does not indicate any findings that will be included on the certificate. It is just unfortunate for us that our local police force is currently dealing with a high demand and a backlog of applications.

I understand how frustrating this is for families who are keen to register and I really do appreciate the patience that has been shown.

My waiting list is still open but I am currently provisionally fully booked with the exception of one slot available on a Friday morning so if you are interested in viewing the setting, meeting me and getting on my waiting list then please get in touch soon to avoid disappointment.

Thank you to everyone who I have met with so far and to those families and have expressed an interest in joining me. Fingers crossed for a positive update at the end of the week and potential announcement of our opening date! 🌻

I honestly had so much fun this afternoon. I love the way children see the world differently and can find so many opportunities for play.

I set up a “Hunt of Horrors” activity where children could find spooky items hidden in our cauldrons full of worms! Naturally, they thought it was far more important to give the worms a bath! 🤣

I LOVED seeing some excellent sensory play, fine motor skills, language development and problem solving skills!

Thank you so much to the wonderful families who have shared their children with me for the afternoon! 🌻
