So many inspirational women to choose from, just to pick one.
Grandma Gatewood was a great-grandma and domestic abuse survivor of over 30 years in 1955.
She became famous for being the first solo female thru-hiker of the Appalachian Trail, which is 2,168 miles long. She was 67 years old. She told her children she was going for a walk and that was it. She did it all over again at 72 and then a third time aged 75.
She documented everything in her diary. Her biography was written by her descendant Ben Montgomery, which is an inspirational and moving read.
I’ve always liked extreme sports and hiking the trail’s on my bucket list to do. If these aren’t inspirational quotes from Grandma Gatewood, I don’t know what is.
