Today is National Lollipop Day. But did you know that just like whole grapes the colourful treats can be a serious choking hazard?

The hard sweet, which is the perfect size and shape to completely block a small child’s airway, can come off the stick and choke a child. This happens silently and if you’re not watching you might not even notice.

Please think twice before giving a lollipop to a young child.

On Friday 20th June I completed my annual first aid training and assessment day with . It was as always a thoroughly enjoyable, thought provoking and highly educational day. I learnt about any updates in paediatric first aid as well as completing an assessment of my teaching of first aid. I always love to learn more about a subject I am extremely passionate about! Thank you Aid Training!

Definitely a very important one to share during this heatwave!

It’s not something people would immediately think of but with the unusually hot weather lately, it’s worth sharing. 2 years ago this baby suffered 2nd degree burns over 30% of his body from being accidentally sprayed with a garden hose and firefighters have issued a fresh warning recently.

Hoping to prevent this type of accident from happening again, the fire department warned: “A garden hose exposed to direct sunlight during summer can heat the water inside the hose (not flowing) to 130-140 degrees Fahrenheit which can cause burns especially to children & animals.
Let the water flow a few minutes to cool before spraying on people or animals"

I say this on every course because of the risk of fire but please always unplug your air fryer when it’s not in use! They really are a risk when plugged in even when they are not on at the wall.

At Little Lambs nothing gives me greater pleasure than reading course feedback. Yesterday was an absolutely packed day with incredible women all learning about paediatric first aid. The feedback was fabulous and it’s always appreciated!
