Fun fact:

The human skeleton is made up of 206 bones. Meanwhile a dog has an average of 319 to 321 bones depending on the length of their tail.

This means dogs also have more joints than a human body!

Physiotherapy can improve quality of life of both human and dog clients. Call us to find out more and book your appointment. 01793 763814

Highworth Physiotherapy clinic provides services to animal clients too!

Dogs can suffer from injuries or conditions, just like their owners. And just like for their owners, physiotherapy can play an important role in restoring their mobility, function, quality of life and performance.

Veterinary Physiotherapists are qualified in applying their skills to animal clients. Conditions commonly treated in dogs include:

· Post-surgery

· Musculoskeletal conditions such as arthritis, hip dysplasia

· Neurological conditions

· Routine check-ups/performance and fitness

Our Veterinary Physiotherapists are ACPAT and RAMP registered ensuring a high standard of knowledge and skills, promoting a gold standard of practice giving you the peace of mind that your animals will be well looked after.

We would like to welcome Andrea Carnero Charles to our group of Veterinary Physiotherapists.

Andrea has been part of the Highworth Physiotherapy team since 2020 treating human clients at the clinic, following qualifying as a Physiotherapist in 2019 from UWE. She also works at GWH assisting with complex rehabilitation and discharge planning. She recently completed her Veterinary Physiotherapy qualification and is now available to treat your dogs and horses.

In her spare time Andrea enjoys spending time with her horses, walking her dog and volunteering at Riding for the Disabled Abingdon.

Do you know what qualifications your animal physiotherapist, chiropractor or osteopath has???

By using a RAMP registered practitioner, you can relax in the knowledge that not only do their qualifications meet RAMP’s gold standards but they also carry out yearly training to maintain that standard.

The guidance from Public Health England for healthcare practitioners is currently not changing. Therefore, as of next Monday the 19th, we will still be wearing PPE, cleaning down, temperature checking, going through COVID questions and asking you all to continue wearing a mask. Thank you to all our clients for supporting us through all of this and we will continue to help protect you to the best of our ability.

Thank you to our NHS colleagues and the huge effort being put in to make the vaccination programme work. As 'in contact' health workers we were all vaccinated today and would encourage you all to attend your appointments when your chance comes.

As a provider of medical services we are allowed to stay open during this National Lockdown. However we are facing some severe challenges, not least because many of our physiotherapists are now caring for their children. However if you need a physiotherapy appointment please do call and we will try our best to fit you in. We are now taking temperatures of all people entering the clinic and remind you that wearing a mask is compulsory. If possible this should be made of 3 layers of material as this has been shown to reduce our risk further and we need to stay COVID free to stay open. Thank you for your patience at this time.
