Celebrating Community and Compassion

We’re incredibly proud of our wonderful CRMs, Michael, and Louise, who recently attended a charity networking fundraiser event representing two of our Oakland Care homes — Hyllden Heights and Birchwood Heights.

The event was in support of the amazing charity we are Beams, which they’ve had the privilege of supporting for the past 3 years. We are Beams do incredible work supporting children and families.

Thank you to Michael and Louise for being such fantastic ambassadors of our values and commitment to making a difference in the community. 💙

The Diwali celebration continued as we all enjoyed some home cooked food made by our lovely staff and our wonderful catering team making a delicious curry also 😋

It’s been a joyful and colourful start to the day, Our residents have been getting creative, crafting tea light holders and painting and decorating Rangoli Art. Celebrating this wonderful culture through hands on activities.

We’re delighted to share feedback from Cyril, a guest at the launch of , the UK’s first dementia-friendly community restaurant at Hyllden Heights.🤩

Cyril was impressed by the space, the atmosphere, and the care behind the concept – describing the evening as special🤩.

The launch was fantastic, and everyone who attended felt just how meaningful and inspirational it was.

We’re delighted to share the launch of at Hyllden Heights – the UK’s first -friendly community restaurant.

This unique dining experience has been created for people living with dementia, their loved ones, and anyone who may find traditional restaurant settings challenging. Kentish Kitchen offers a safe, inclusive space to enjoy fine dining with warmth and community at its heart.

🍽️💛 Tonight we're launching Kentish Kitchen at Hyllden Heights!🍽️💛

As the UK’s first dementia-friendly community restaurant, Kentish Kitchen is a unique space designed for people living with dementia, their families, and anyone who simply enjoys company.

In collaboration with BRACE Dementia Research, we’ve reimagined what inclusive dining can look like – offering a warm, welcoming environment and high-quality, seasonal meals that bring people together.

Laurie Thurlow, our General Manager, commented: “As people’s cognition reduces, they become isolated and excluded from communities, and it’s important that they’ve still got places to go. Their social lives are severely hampered because they’ve got nowhere to go where it’s a safe environment, where they can still enjoy the finer things of life.”

Hyllden Heights will transform its dining area into a restaurant and is expecting several guests at tonight’s launch, including local community members, journalists, partners, and our senior leadership team.
