Cambridge Hydrotherapy Centre Our Page is to update our customers and potential new customers what we do here showing progress of dogs under rehabilitation.

Cambridge Hydrotherapy Centre run and managed by Aimee Plumb. Aimee is fully qualified in Level 3 Canine Hydrotherapy and she is registered with NARCH (National Association of Registered Canine Hydrotherapists). Aimee is very passionate about the health and well being of all breeds of dog and realises how important Hydrotherapy can be for pain relief and rehabilitation for dogs with certain conditions, injuries as well as general fitness. Our pool is 5 metres by 3 metres by 1.2 meters deep that allows all breeds of dog from the smallest up to the larger breeds to have a comfortable swim in a safe environment. All dogs are individually assessed and provided with a personalised program created to suit their needs and abilities. Aimee will always enter the pool with our patients/clients enabling us to offer comfort and reassurance, whilst being able to feel the affected areas to maximise their rehabilitation and fitness. We have excellent relationships with all our local vets and strive to work closely with the vets for patients referred to us. We are professional and serious about what we do to ensure the full well being of all dogs that come through our pool. We are situated 5 miles south of Cambridge and are easily accessible as we are very close to the M11, A11 and A14.

This is Ralph, a patient who underwent TPLO surgery in July and has since also been diagnosed with mild hip dysplasia.

Today marked Ralph’s second hydrotherapy session. Based on his initial appointment, significant progress was observed. During his first session, Ralph presented with high levels of anxiety and was reluctant to approach or attempt the ramp. To ensure a positive introduction, a fear-free approach was implemented. The session focused on confidence-building through structured play with a ball, without placing pressure on him to enter the pool.

At his second session, Ralph demonstrated a marked increase in confidence. He approached and descended the ramp with minimal hesitation and was able to complete several short swims. By the end of the session, he independently used the ramp and engaged in swimming while retrieving his ball, indicating a positive association with the aquatic environment.

Ralph benefits from an excellent support network, and with continued hydrotherapy alongside the commitment of his owners, he is expected to progress well in his rehabilitation.

How gorgeous is the lovely Ivy! Ivy has been coming to me to help with rehabilitation after being diagnosed with hip dysplasia.

Ivy doesn’t love the swimming part but she gives us a good boogie afterwards when it comes to treat time! 🐾

🐾💦 Recovering from a cruciate ligament injury can be tough on our pups—but hydrotherapy can make the journey smoother and safer.

Because water reduces the strain on joints, dogs can start moving earlier in their recovery without risking further damage. The gentle resistance of water helps them:
🌊 Rebuild muscle strength to support the knee
🌊 Improve balance and coordination
🌊 Regain mobility with less pain
🌊 Stay active while protecting healing tissues

Hydrotherapy isn’t just exercise—it’s a bridge between rest and getting back to the activities they love. 🐶💙

✨ Many dogs come out of the pool not only stronger, but more confident in using their leg again.

💦🐾 Living with osteoarthritis can make even simple movements tough for our dogs—but hydrotherapy can help them rediscover comfort and joy.

In the water, joints feel lighter and less painful, giving dogs the freedom to move without added stress. Hydrotherapy can:
🌊 Relieve stiffness and ease discomfort
🌊 Build and maintain muscle strength to support weak joints
🌊 Improve circulation and flexibility
🌊 Encourage gentle, safe exercise they can actually enjoy 🐶💙

For many dogs, stepping into the pool or underwater treadmill isn’t just about therapy—it’s about regaining independence, confidence, and a wagging tail again.

✨ Watching them move with ease in the water is truly heartwarming.

🚨 Important Notice 🚨

We’ve recently heard of another hydrotherapy centre being forced to close after a dog went swimming in a lake, picked up a bug, and then used their pool — which became contaminated and unsafe for other dogs.

To protect our pool, your dogs, and the continuation of our service:

🐾 Please ensure your dog is clean before their session.
🐾 Avoid any natural swimming (lakes, rivers, ponds, sea) for at least 3 days before your appointment.
🐾 If your dog arrives dirty and requires washing before their session, a dirty dog cleaning charge will apply.

We know dogs love a splash about, but these steps are essential to keep the pool open, safe, and hygienic for everyone. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation 💙

🐾 Meet one of the best-kept secrets for dogs with elbow dysplasia: hydrotherapy! 💦

When painful joints make everyday movement tough, water becomes their best friend. The buoyancy reduces stress on the elbows, while gentle resistance helps build strength where it’s needed most.

Dogs often show:
🌊 Easier, more comfortable movement
🌊 Better muscle support around sore joints
🌊 Less stiffness and pain after exercise
🌊 A happier, more confident attitude 🐶✨

Hydrotherapy isn’t just exercise—it’s a safe space for healing, play, and rebuilding trust in their body.

💙 Watching a dog go from limping on land to gliding in the water is truly amazing.

🐾💦 Did you know hydrotherapy can make a world of difference for dogs with hip dysplasia?

The buoyancy of water takes the weight off sore joints, allowing pups to move more freely without added strain. Swimming or walking in water helps:
✨ Build muscle strength to support the hips
✨ Improve mobility and flexibility
✨ Reduce pain and stiffness
✨ Boost confidence and overall wellbeing

Whether it’s gentle swimming or an underwater treadmill, hydrotherapy offers a safe, low-impact way for your furry friend to stay active and happy. 🐶💙

🐾💦 After hydrotherapy, it’s not just about drying off – it’s about recovery!

Wrapping your dog up in a warm towel or robe after their swim especially as the temperature is dropping helps to:
✨ Keep muscles warm and relaxed (preventing stiffness).
✨ Support circulation so the therapy benefits last longer.
✨ Provide comfort and calm after their workout.

Here is Benson showing off his drying robe!

Think of it like athletes cooling down after training – our pups deserve the same care! 🐶💙
