Collagen. It’s something we’re all trying to get more of.

Whether it’s through skincare products, treatments or supplements.

But here’s a few habits to consider which are fighting against you.

Sun exposure - I know we all love a tan, so do I but making sure this is done safely with SPF protection and consider breaks from the height of the sun and wearing a hat to shade the face. Sunbeds 🤮 I get it I used them for years but these are one of the worst things for your skin.

Poor sleep - skin repairs and produces collagen whilst you sleep. Lack of sleep increases hormones, which can break down collagen over time. Ladies I know as we age this a loosing battle but consider your wind down routine, an early night and supplements to help.

Chronic stress - increases cortisol which breaks down collagen and slows production of new. Whilst this can’t always be controlled try and find practices that help your body manage the stress.

High sugar intake - glycation. Sugar molecules attach to collagen and make it stiff and weak reducing in a loss of elasticity. Slowly reduce your intake.

Low protein diet - if you’re not getting enough protein your body doesn’t have the raw minerals it needs to build and repair collagen. Start with a good high protein breakfast and it will be easy to hit what you need throughout the day.

Alcohol - dehydrates skin, depletes the nutrients Vitamin A & Zinc needed for collagen production and causes inflammation which breaks down collagen. Try and keep alcohol to only a few nights a week.

Over exercising - raises cortisol accelerating collagen breakdown. Make sure you’re giving yourself the recovery you need.

Blue light - causes oxidative stress, a weekend skin barrier, collagen breakdown. Some tinted SPF helps with this.

Very hot showers - strips naturals oils and compromises the skin barrier - turn down that temperature.

Low micronutrient- especially vitamin c, zinc and copper can impair the body’s ability to produce collagen.

You know I’m all about balance but you could be investing a lot of £££ to improve collagen without realising your daily habits effects on this 💖

Greetings from Espana 🇪🇸 👋🏼

I’ve had so many of you reach out to me over the last 24 hours with messages

1- Wow you’re so brave
2- I’d love to do this
3 - How do you know where to go
4 - Aren’t you bored/lonely

So I thought I’d share a post.

It’s Friday night I’m in Spain on a solo holiday. I’m in my PJ’s about to settle in with another binge of Emily in Paris.

1 - I’m not brave
2 - You can so do this
3 - Google maps saves my life
4 - No I’m not bored or lonely

This isn’t the first time I’ve holidayed solo and thanks to my career I’ve got used to travelling the world alone, and truth be told I bloody love it.

But a lot of the time so many of us want to do it but have so many fears so here’s my take;

You are completely allowed to do whatever you want, you’re a mum, a wife, partner, you want to go away by yourself. As long as plans are in place to look after everything and everyone whilst you’re away you’re well within your rights to ask for this time.

Yes it’s intimidating, that bar, a table full of men on a stag do, those couples loved up and gushing, that family that reminds you what you’ve left at home. But you belong there just as much as everyone else and once you’ve taken your seat people don’t care nearly as much as you think.

You’re worried about how you’ll get about or where to go? Do a little bit or research first but Google maps is your best friend it will literally plan your itinerary and tell you how to get there!

Little tips to keep you going whilst your away

1 Be open minded and approachable I’ve made 4 new friends already and they are here looking out for me 🥰

2 Bring a power bank and keep it charged you’ll need your phone at all times

3 Research where you want to go and how you’ll get there so there’s no guessing upon arrival

4 Download your favourite audiobook or create a playlist so you’ve noise and company of you need to

5 Call the friend/ family member you’ve been missing now you have the time

6 Maybe (I do this) go to places you’re familiar with whilst you build up the courage on solo travel

7 So many people do this everyday

I’d love to know in the comments who also solo travels? 👇🏼

I used to be so guilty of this 👇🏼

When I was younger and working for someone else it was all about how many clients can I fit into my 8/9 hour shift. The appointment time was literally the time it took for the treatment so there was no messing about get on the bed fast 😅

But the problem with this is you have no time to consult with your client, find out how they feel about their skin, how it’s got to be where it is, what their current skin routine, habits and goals are or if an existing client how are they getting on with things, are they happy with their journey so far?

Without this information yes you can look at what’s going on on the surface of the skin and still tailor a ‘nice’ treatment that will offer good results

But I want ‘great’ results

That’s why I take such an in depth approach on your first treatment and continue to check in on changes to skin and your satisfaction in the journey at every appointment.

And this is why not only can I then create a tailored treatment but also help you choose the best home care products and changes to your diet, nutrition and habits because as we know everything you do affects your skin.

I wanted to share this review today as this lady came to see me on Tuesday for the very first time for a consultation and treatment. She’d had 2 facials in March and whilst they were an enjoyable experience neither made a lasting difference (one actually made her skin worse) and she was given no home care or advice on what products would help her achieve her skin goals.

Thankfully I changed that for her and I’m also excited to see her results too 💖

There is a big difference between just going for a monthly facial for a treat and choosing to book with someone who is invested in your skin month on month and that difference is achieving your skin goals… or not.

It all starts with education 🤓

To understand your skin and what works for it and your goals.

To understand the formulations of the skincare and how the ingredients actually work.

And absorbing all of this confusing information on social media is confusing you and keeping you stuck with your skin goals.

If you’re ready to see real long lasting results seeking professional advice gets rid of this overwhelm and helps you understand exactly what your skin needs to be it’s best.

Skincare is not a one size fits all, but you don’t have to figure that out alone.

That’s what I’m here for 💖

Hey 👋🏼 I’ve had quite a few new followers recently and I’m rebranding so here’s a little re-introduction.

I’m Liz, a Skincare Specialist based in Burbage, Leicestershire.

I’ve been in the Beauty Industry for 25 years, the last 4 specialising in skin.

My passion for skin came after my own personal struggles. I was a busy working mum overwhelmed by the skincare industry and the fact nothing was improving my skin.

Once I found the solution and knew how transforming my skin (and entire health and wellness at the same time) made me feel I knew I had finally found my purpose. I had to share everything I know with others so they can achieve and feel the same.

I specialise in simplifying your approach to skincare so you can achieve healthy, resilient, glowing skin that ages well. It’s all about a 360 holistic approach for skin longevity.

My focus is always your skin barrier health first from both an internal and external point of view. If you have a healthy skin barrier this limits your concerns, reverses skin ageing and helps you age well moving forward.

Because I’m passionate about what I do I’m constantly learning, adapting and growing for myself, my business and you. So I can be the best and offer the best.

If you’re currently feeling overwhelmed with skincare, your skin isn’t responding as you’d hoped to the products and treatments you’ve been using then get in touch.

I can help you understand exactly what your skin needs to be it’s best. I simplify things for you so you can achieve healthy, glowing skin that ages well for life.

Without even thinking about it.

Just 4 days of new skincare 🤩

Harry came to see me for the first time last week. At 18 he’s now almost grown out of his acne prone skin however the products that he had been using to help with the last few breakouts and scarring had left his skin quite compromised.

And this is the thing sometimes with really strong actives to target concerns. They’ll improve some and then create others because the skin barrier is compromised and unbalanced.

The few breakouts he did have were inflamed and dry, he also had the start of eczema in the corner of his eye.

I stripped back his routine to a hydrating cream cleanser that would restore skin barrier health and a low level vitamin A moisturiser to start and restrengthen and normalise his skin.

I’m so pleased with these results in just 4 days, his skin is softer, less dehydrated, the breakouts are less inflamed, the one on his forehead almost gone and his eye is a lot calmer, the after photo is following his first session of LED Light Therapy Facials.
