Hi everyone, I’m Lee from Peacock Hypnotherapy 👋

Over the next few days I’ll be sharing short daily videos to help you better understand anxiety and how your body and mind respond to it. Each video will break things down in a simple, practical way so you can start making sense of what’s happening and why.

Here’s what I’ll be covering:

The nervous system - how it works and why your body reacts the way it does when you feel anxious.

The vagus nerve – what it is and the important role it plays in calming and regulating your body.

Why anxiety can cause physical symptoms– understanding why things like a racing heart, dizziness, or tight chest happen.

Why avoidance makes anxiety worse – and how avoiding situations can actually strengthen the anxiety cycle.

Neuroplasticity – the brain’s incredible ability to change, adapt, and learn new patterns so you can move forward.

If you’ve ever wondered Why does my body do this? when you feel anxious, these videos will help you understand what’s going on behind the scenes.

Follow along over the next few days, and feel free to share with anyone who might find it helpful 💙

Your brain is constantly changing.
This ability is called neuroplasticity – the brain’s capacity to build new neural pathways based on what we repeatedly experience.
But our environment shapes these pathways more than we realise.
Chronic stress, poor sleep and overstimulation keep the nervous system in survival mode, increasing cortisol and anxiety.
However, supportive environments – healthy routines, movement, rest, and meaningful connections – help produce dopamine, serotonin and oxytocin.
These chemicals help regulate mood, improve decision making and reduce emotional reactivity.
When we improve our environment, we improve our brain.
And when our brain works better, our life becomes easier to navigate.
