Hobbies

What's your hobby?
Have you thought about your hobby, why you do it and how it contributes to your wellbeing.

Boy balance loves to run on the football field and burn off energy. He also loves to fish 🐟.

Looking at him today concentrating on the stillness, made me think. How does this benefit him? What does he get from this and enjoy?

For him its the thrill of the catch, no sharks🦈 today but a couple of tiny ones. It allows his mind to quieten, it helps him develop patience and resilience. He had 4 hours of fresh air and quality time with his grandpa.

For some it may be boring. For others it is mindfulness and brings calm 🧘‍♂️🧘‍♀️.

I for one hope boy balance continues to fish and uses this in the future as an outlet and release for stress .

Reading, Rest and recharge: I've never classed myself as reader. If I've managed to read 6 books in about 10 years, that's my max.

A friend said to me " everyone is a reader ,you just need to find the right book." She was correct! After buying me my first Freida book , I can genuinely say I'm hooked. 4 of these books in the space of this year.

This book is even better, as it has an Occupational Therapist, physiotherapist and speech and language Therapist in it 🙌.

Reading has allowed my mind to switch off. No chitter chatter in my brain and a sense of accomplishment 👏

✨️ New colours ✨️

One of my clients loves to have bright toe nails. She is unable to maintain her feet due to vision and being unable to reach to cut them anymore. Due to lack of sensation my client doesn't always know when she has knocked her toe nails. Therefore, I always feedback to her re: bruises, dry skin or breaks in the feet.

✨️New chapter✨️

I have worked in the NHS for over 20 years and today was my last Friday working for them. I have loved every job I have had and I've always moved on when I can't give 110% any more , as that's what everyone deserves.

I will miss all of my team dearly 💔 as they have been there through thick and thin, my friends.

On the 12th of May I start my new chapter, still as an Occupational Therapist, but working with children in a school . This will be very different, but I love a new challenge.

Thank you to the NHS for a great 20 years 🙏

I will continue with Balance Therapy, but with a little less flexibility due to my new hours 💕.
