I'm Jayne and for over 20 years I've been teaching practical, down-to- earth yoga in Burbage, Leicestershire. It's about feeling more at home in your body. We move slowly, breathe deeply and give your nervous system a chance to exhale. The gentle, rhythmic movement and simple breathing practices help your body unwind and your mind settle. Expect a warm, light-hearted approach. It's not fancy yoga. It's feel-better-in-your-body yoga. If you want to feel calmer, move more freely, and sleep better, you’re in the right place. You don't need special clothes, just something that feels comfortable with freedom to move. Shanti simply means 'peace'. Welcome to a calm and restful space in a frantic, technology-driven world.

Relaxing your eyes can be a strange idea. It's the difference between a Paddington hard stare where laser focused eyes could burn through walls and a soft, relaxed gaze as you look at a faraway landscape. Or the difference between looking at the surface of the water and seeing the reflection in the water. Relaxed eyes help to activate your relaxation response. 🙏

It feels like we're being relentlessly pushed into the future. Or is it just me? Christmas preparations started in September. Black Friday lasts a whole month. Adverts for holidays next summer started in October. And by January we'll be looking at Easter eggs. For me, mindfulness and yoga are the antidote.

This week set aside three minutes each day to bring yourself to your senses.
🦶Feel your feet on the floor.
👂Tune into the sounds you hear.
👃Smell the air around you.
😋Savour whatever you taste.
👀Soften your eyes and gaze gently at your surroundings.
🫁Feel your breath moving your body.
