A beautiful morning at Cowslip meadows for the Rooted in Spring retreat.

Thank you Katy The Heart Space for inviting me to guide a gentle herb walk. We stepped out onto the land to notice the early spring plants that show us the season is shifting. Nettle, cleavers, and dandelion quietly returning, offering that first sense of movement and renewal.

We shared nettle tea and cleavers infused water, taking a moment to slow down and really taste the plants. A simple way to connect, to pause, and to listen to the body.

The group then created their own pulse point roller blends and body scrubs using the beautiful oils from The Aromatherapy Company Small, practical ways to carry that support into everyday life.

This morning held all six pillars of rest.

Seasonal, noticing the shift into spring.
Elemental, being out on the land.
Emotional and mindset, through scent and sensory experience.
Physical, through touch and self care.
Social, sharing space and learning together.

Grateful for this beautiful land, the sunshine, and a wonderful group of women to share it with.💚🌿

The Quickening🌿

🌿Learn how these plants have traditionally been used to support vitality and seasonal transition
🌿Enjoy herbal teas and light seasonal refreshments by the lake
🌿Create a simple seasonal herbal preparation to take home
🌿Gain practical confidence in how to work with spring herbs safely in everyday life

I visited the lake this weekend where the spring workshop will be held.

It’s such a quiet, peaceful space, especially at this time of year as everything is just beginning to come back to life again.

This is where we’ll be gathering for The Quickening – my spring herbal workshop on 25 April, walking slowly, noticing the first herbs of the season and taking time to pause.

We’ll explore the plants growing here, drink herbal tea together and make a simple seasonal preparation to take home.

I’m keeping it small (10 people) so it stays calm and personal.

If you feel drawn to something like this, you can find the details in my bio.

Spring herbs are beginning to appear everywhere at the moment.

Plants like nettle, cleavers and wild garlic have traditionally been used at this time of year to gently support vitality as the body moves out of winter.

In this short video I’m sharing a few of the plants I’m already seeing emerging locally, and some of the herbs we may come across during The Quickening – my spring herbal workshop at the lake on 25 April.

During the workshop we’ll take a gentle walk around the lakeside landscape, learn how to recognise these seasonal herbs safely, drink herbal tea together and make a simple herbal preparation to take home.

I’m keeping the group small (10 people) so it stays calm and personal.

If you’d like to join us, you can find the details in my bio.

✨ MONTHLY HERBAL SERIES ✨
March: A cooling, cleansing climber
aka Cleavers, goosegrass, sticky willie, sticky w**d (Galium aparine)

This long-legged ‘sticky’ plant is not sticky; rather, it is covered in tiny hooked hairs that help it clamber over hedges to reach the light. Although a source of frustration for gardeners, it has long been treasured by dairy farmers and herbalists alike.

Have you heard the folk saying that states ‘if you drink cleavers for nine weeks, you will be so beautiful everyone will fall in love with you’? This is because cleavers has a lymphatic action, which supports the body’s immune defense system with an action on cleaning and clearing the body’s tissues from waste products and infection. It is also high in nutrients such as silica, which is useful for maintaining skin health.

Herbalists use these actions for improving skin conditions such as acne and eczema, which is what the folk saying refers to: who wouldn’t love a glowing skin? ✨

🐮What about those dairy farmers? A thick, tangled ball of cleavers was once used as a milk strainer, the hooks effectively sieved out any impurities leaving the milk cow hair and straw-free.

To consult a herbalist about the conditions discussed, please use 'Find a Herbalist' https://nimh.org.uk/find-a-herbalist/ to locate one near you.

I was just setting up the room today and noticed how the light was hitting the table. It reminded me why I love creating this space so much.

Sometimes, we don’t need a massive life overhaul. We just need an hour where nobody needs anything from us. An hour where we can finally let our shoulders drop and just... breathe.
I’ve had a few slots open up for next week, and I’d love to welcome you in if you’ve been feeling like you need a gentle reset.
Available times:
✨ Mon 9th 3pm
✨ Tues 10th pm slots

No pressure to talk or “fix” anything. Just come as you are.
