UK Veterans Hearing Foundation

UK Veterans Hearing Foundation We believe that we should honour those who have served and still serve our country by offering them the best hearing technology at the best price & service

Since becoming a charity, we have managed to fit over 50 veterans with top-class hearing aids! However, we still have more than 2,500 veterans who need our help in getting back to a normal standard of life after the hearing damage they received in their years of service. Any donations we receive are a huge help in the lives of our vets and we are eternally grateful for whatever you may be able to spare.

We are proud to share that our charity, UK Veterans Hearing Foundation, has been recognised as the Best Veterans Hearing Support Charity 2026 at the UK Enterprise Awards. This recognition reflects the work we carry out every day to support veterans living with hearing loss. It also reflects the trust placed in us by the veterans and families we support.😁

Thanks to SME News and to everyone who has been part of this journey.🙏

Hearing loss does not always happen overnight, for many veterans, it builds quietly over time, shaped by years of service and moments that stay long after.

Mr Archibald Macdonald lived with hearing loss and tinnitus for years, managing daily challenges that affected conversations, confidence, and simple routines.

With the right support, things began to change; clearer conversations, less strain, a better sense of connection. His success story reflects what many veterans experience and what the right care can do. Read his full journey and see the difference support can make.

For Mr Brain Sands, hearing loss was not sudden. It built up over time, starting during his military service, where hearing protection was not always available. Over the years, everyday moments became harder; conversations felt distant, the television volume kept going up. Even with NHS hearing aids, he struggled with discomfort, whistling, and devices that would not stay in place.🦻

With support from the UK Veterans Hearing Foundation, Brian was fitted with hearing aids that suited his needs, lifestyle, and level of hearing loss. Sometimes, the right support does not change everything overnight. But it brings back something important like ease in conversation, comfort in daily life and a sense of connection again. If you or a loved one is facing similar challenges, you are not alone.🤗

Many veterans come to us with the same question: Is NHS hearing care enough, or should I look at private options? The answer depends on what you need. The NHS offers essential support across the UK; however, for veterans dealing with noise-induced hearing loss or tinnitus, support sometimes needs to go a step further. Private hearing care can offer:
• Faster access to appointments
• More advanced hearing technology
• Ongoing aftercare and adjustments
• Support without age restrictions

This is not about choosing one over the other. It is about understanding your options and what works best for you.

Two months after receiving his hearing aids, Mr Kane shares a simple update. “I’m getting on with them perfectly.”

Behind this quiet line is something important. Hearing support does not stop after the fitting. It continues through regular check-ups, guidance, and knowing help is always there when needed. Through the UK Veterans Hearing Foundation, veterans receive ongoing aftercare, repairs under warranty, and support to help them make the most of their hearing every day. This is what long-term support looks like.

If you know a veteran who needs help or wants to support the work we do, reach out today.

A few words, but they carry a lot. Mr Ian Pinnegar spent years in service, where constant noise was part of daily life. As time passed, that experience began to affect how he heard, how he followed conversations, and how he stayed connected with people around him.

Through the UK Veterans Hearing Foundation, he received support that focused on understanding his needs properly and finding a solution that worked in real life. His response was simple. A thank you, and a quiet acknowledgement that things feel clearer now. Sometimes, that is all you need to know.

After serving with REME and completing operational tours, Mr Luckham was medically discharged due to progressive hearing loss. For years, he relied fully on hearing aids and lived with constant tinnitus. The ringing was persistent, conversations required effort, and even listening became exhausting.

Like many veterans, Mr Luckham believed this was simply something he would have to live with. But through the support of the UK Veterans Hearing Foundation, Roy received specialist hearing care delivered in partnership with HearCo Audiology Services. Thanks to funding from the Ernest Kleinwort Charitable Trust, he now hears with greater clarity and confidence.

He can now have clearer conversations, less listening strain, and more independence.

When Mr Leeder enlisted in 1967, he stepped into service with pride and quiet determination. He worked on ship machinery and stood watches on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier, surrounded by relentless engine noise, day after day. Back then, no one questioned it; they simply did their duty. Years later, the impact of that noise followed him home. Conversations became harder to follow, background noise blurred voices together. Even with NHS hearing aids, he could hardly notice a difference.

Through the UK Veterans Hearing Foundation, and with the generous support of Sound Advice Hearing and The Childwick Trust, Mr Leeder received specialist support and was fitted with advanced Phonak hearing aids tailored to his needs. The difference was clear: less strain, more confidence, clearer conversations. After serving in some of the loudest environments imaginable, he no longer has to struggle in silence. We are proud to support veterans like Mr Leeder, and grateful to the partners who help make this possible, because those who stood watch for us deserve to be heard.

After years of military service, hearing loss had become part of Mr Oliver St John’s everyday life, something many veterans quietly live with long after service ends. With support from the UK Veterans Hearing Foundation and funding from the Ernest Kleinwort Charitable Trust, Mr St John was able to access specialist audiology care and be fitted with advanced hearing aids at Hearco.

Moments like these remind us why veteran hearing support matters. With the right care and the right support, life can sound full again.

For many veterans, hearing loss doesn’t happen overnight; it builds over time, shaped by years of service and exposure, and continues to affect everyday life long after leaving the forces. Mr Kane’s hearing loss following his time in the Army made conversations, background noise, and even watching TV increasingly difficult. Standard hearing support wasn’t meeting his needs until the right help became available.🦻

Thanks to the continued support of Veterans Welfare Group, Mr Kane was able to access a fully funded specialist hearing pathway, focused on comfort, clarity, and real-life listening. His hearing care was provided by Cheshire Hearing Services, ensuring the technology and fitting were tailored to him. Stories like this highlight the impact of veteran-led support and why access to the right hearing care matters.🎖️ ❤️

Mr William Pearson joined the Royal Navy at just 16. Years of exposure to gunfire and heavy weapons slowly changed his hearing, not overnight, but quietly, over time. For him the social settings became difficult, background noise overwhelming, conversations are exhausting.🔊👂

Through the UK Veterans Hearing Foundation, Mr Pearson received specialist hearing support designed around military-related hearing loss. After being fitted with new hearing aids, he described the improvement as life-changing, especially in noisy environments. This is why we do what we do. Because, hearing care for veterans isn’t just about sound, it’s about confidence, connection, and feeling part of life again. 🦻😁🎖️
