Being an IBCLC is so much more than just simply helping women to breastfeed their babies. It's about having the knowledge and experience to unpick complex feeding difficulties and to identify the root of the problem and then putting in place the correct interventions and referrals. Providing ongoing practical and emotional support to these families is so important and the initial Consultation is usually just the first step to getting things back on track.

Another photo of my boys from 3 years ago, (aged 8 and 5) having lots fun with one of my knitted b***s. For all of their lives, breastfeeding has been so normalised in this house that I know when they’re older they’re going to be so supportive of breastfeeding too ❤️❤️

Just wanted to share one of my favourite family photos. My two beautiful boys each came with their own breastfeeding challenges but with the support of Lactation Consultants, Tongue-Tie practitioners and Osteopaths as well as me attending weekly breastfeeding groups for as long as I can remember, we overcame them and went on to have long and successful breastfeeding journeys. My boys are 11 and 8 years old now but if it wasn’t for the challenges I faced with them, where I was pushed to my limits (mentally and physically), then I don’t think my passion to support other mothers would have been ignited. So to all the women I’ve helped over the last decade, you’ve got Arron and Lewis to thank 🤣

A lovely Facebook Memory popped up today: my second born, Lewis at 2 months old. I think he epitomises the term “milk drunk” as we like to say….. ❤️

This review is from a father, after he and his wife came to see me with their 11 week old baby who had been struggling with weight gain since birth, despite input from the hospital and community Infant Feeding Teams.
Although I advise seeking help as early as possible when weight gain problems arise, it's also really important to remember that is is never to late to seek out support to try and get things back on track either.
