We have been continuing our staff training with sessions on some very important topics for our care staff. Recently, our team attended falls awareness training, delivered by the brilliant Two Line Training, where we considered some of the biggest risk factors to residents within the home, the steps we have in place to reduce falls, and any additional actions we as care staff can take to ensure resident safety.

This was followed by training on aspiration and dysphagia, aimed at helping our team members identify and respond to swallowing difficulties, and furthering their knowledge on how these issues can occur.

As always, the fantastic training from the Two Line Training team delivered interesting and engaging training sessions, enabling our staff to get hands-on with practical demonstrations that really help to put what they have learned into practice.

Our staff are passionate about providing the best possible care for our residents, and are always happy to engage in training that will help them further their skills and learn new practices they can use for the benefit of the residents in our care.

The Springkell House team recently took part in a really interesting hands-on training session on the topic of infection control, with the brilliant Two Line Training .

In this session, we learned a lot about hand hygiene and even got to test our hand-washing skills using the blue UV light to show up any invisible bacteria we might have missed. 😱 🧼

As always, the brilliant trainer from Two Line Training made the session interesting and engaging for us all. We learned a lot and also had fun; every member of the team who took part found the session valuable.

The regular training sessions we hold at the home help our team stay up-to-date on current best practices within the industry, as well as refreshing them on key care skills, all helping to ensure we are providing quality care for our residents.

We recently had the opportunity to support a local fundraising event in aid of the Cardiomyopathy Association.

The James Stephenson Memorial Golf Day took place at Old Thorns. 🏌️‍♂️The event brought together more than 80 golfers for a sunshine-filled day of golf, in memory of James Stephenson and to raise funds for his favourite charity - the Cardiomyopathy Association. The event was a great success and overall raised nearly £7,000 for the charity, and we were delighted to show our support as a sponsor of the event.

The Springkell House team were pleased to have the chance to be involved in this annual event organised by a local family and for such a brilliant cause.

We recently welcomed the wonderful Ava to the home to support our residents in a reminiscence session. Ava uses various sensory tools, including music, images, and scents, to evoke memories from our residents’ lives. 🎶💭

The residents really enjoy the opportunity to explore these memories, sharing stories and experiences with each other, and often revisiting precious memories they may not have thought of in a while.

Memories are such an important and powerful thing, particularly for our residents. Reminiscence activities help residents to revisit memories that are special to them. At Springkell House, we incorporate a variety of activities into our schedule that are aimed at encouraging memory skills and reminiscence.

At Beritaz Care, we understand that nothing benefits the mind and body quite like a good night’s sleep. 🛌😴 Quality sleep plays an important part in the health and wellness of the residents within our homes.

Today is World Sleep Day, an event aimed at raising awareness of the importance of sleep health. The theme of World Sleep Day 2026 is ‘Sleep well, live better’, encouraging everyone to take steps to prioritise their sleep routine to benefit their overall health.

On World Sleep Day, we are sharing how we prioritise sleep health as part of our care service, and why good sleep matters for our residents. Sleep health is a key factor in the holistic approach to care we take within our homes. Residents’ sleep quality, preferences, and any negative sleep factors are all included in the personalised care plans developed for each individual. The staff within our homes do everything they can to support sleep health, from helping residents to establish good sleep routines that work for them to making sure the home environment is conducive to a good night’s sleep.

We had a lovely Valentine’s Day celebration at Springkell House, filled with music, laughter, and love. ❤️ 🥰

Residents came together to share a glass of wine and enjoy some delicious cakes made by our brilliant kitchen team, and everyone received a small gift in celebration of Valentine’s Day. We enjoyed some fabulous musical entertainment as residents enjoyed their Valentine’s themed treats.

We wanted to make sure this was a joyful day for our residents. A day to celebrate love in all its forms and to honour the people they have loved throughout their lives, while being surrounded by the friends they have made at Springkell House.

Throughout Dignity Action Month, our residents and teams have been exploring what dignity looks like within our homes. 💛

At Beritaz Care, dignity is a value at the heart of our person-centred approach to care. From the training our staff receive, to the active role we encourage our residents to take in our home communities, we are committed to ensuring everyone feels respected, valued, and heard.

Dignity Action Month aims to ensure people who use care services or who receive support are treated as individuals and are given choice, control, and a sense of purpose in their daily lives, which is something we are passionate about at Beritaz Care.

Find out how we champion dignity every day within our homes and how we have been celebrating Dignity Action Month, in our latest blog: https://beritazcare.co.uk/news/article/dignity-in-care

Last week, our residents took part in an activity to celebrate Dignity Day. Our activities coordinator put on this lovely afternoon tea spread and invited residents to come together for a cup of tea and some delicious treats, while we discussed the topic of dignity. 🫖🍰

Our kitchen team whipped up this fantastic selection of sweet treats, including some fabulous cakes and croissants for residents to enjoy. While tucking into the delicious refreshments, we asked the residents to consider ‘what is dignity’ and how they feel their dignity can be respected. 🤔 They also took part in a Dignity Day-themed crafting activity.

Upholding dignity is such an important topic, particularly within the care industry. While we are always doing our utmost to uphold the principles of dignity, respect, and compassion, through our person-centred approach to care, it is so important to speak to our residents themselves about what dignity means to them.

Dignity Day takes place every February during Dignity Action Month, and is a campaign aimed at raising awareness and ensuring vulnerable individuals receive person-centred care while being given choice, control, and a sense of purpose.
