✨ This is Anne. She turned 66 this week — and she’s just getting started. ✨

Anne has been practicing yoga for over 12 years, but for the last 5, it has become her anchor — a true moving meditation. It’s how she meets life’s challenges with presence, strength, and calm.

A self-confessed “Savasana dodger” in the early days, it’s now her favourite part of practice — the perfect stillness after the strength.

Anne’s passion for yoga goes beyond the mat. She’s completed both BWY Foundation 1 & 2 (120 hours) and is now one year into a 500-hour diploma, diving deep into yoga philosophy and exploring yoga as a lifelong practice.

But what she values just as much is the inclusive community at Yoga Universe — many of whom have become real friends, travelling together and sharing laughs both on and off the mat. You'll find her next year teaching in Ibiza or teaching her private yoga clients.

Anne, we admire your drive, your depth, and your joyful energy. Thank you for reminding us all that age is never a barrier to strength, growth, or connection.

Yoga and consistency intertwine like breath and movement.
It’s the daily commitment that transforms poses into ritual, gradually unlocking both physical and mental resilience.

Like a steady current shaping the riverbed, consistent practice carves out profound well-being, deepening the connection between mind, body, and soul with every breath and every moment of presence.

Yoga has even been shown to increase levels of GABA, a calming neurotransmitter that supports a more regulated nervous system and an improved mood.

In the pursuit of well-being, consistency becomes the foundation — quietly building a state of balance, clarity, and inner strength that deepens with each practice.

This is Jen. Jen is ……… mmmm …… there actually isn’t one word to describe Jen because she is so many things. Jen has battled with self confidence issues and injuries but look at her now!

She just glows! Her encouragement of others and bigging up her fellow YU community is what she is about. Always cheering them on and she has indeed become an inspiration for others to take up exercise. This is Jen on the inside ✨

On the outside - wow - the progress she has made is down to her determination and commitment - 7 classes a week is her norm from consistently upping her maximum weight in strength and toning to smashing the tricky poses in her yoga practice.

She is looking hot 🔥 (In fact on occasion we do just like to stare at her - a bit weird but she is proper nice to look at. Maybe don’t tell her that bit.)

Why do breath holds and double inhales work?
Because your breath speaks directly to your nervous system.

When you take a double inhale and pause, your body stops reacting to stress and starts to reset. This sends a signal of safety, calm, and control — helping you regulate anxiety, reduce tension, and focus more clearly.

✨ It’s not about holding your breath to challenge yourself — it’s about holding space for your nervous system to reset.

Try it next time you feel overwhelmed:
👉 Inhale
👉 Little extra inhale on top
👉 Hold for 3–5 seconds
👉 Exhale slowly

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: Stephen & Lorraine ✨�

When Stephen first rocked up to class, he had no clue what he was doing (his words, not ours 😉)... but did that stop him? Absolutely not. Did he feel awkward or out of place? Not even for a second – he just got on his mat and gave it a go. Legend.
Then there is Lorraine, armed with the most beautiful smile and a quiet determination that will inspire anyone in the room. Despite juggling some health challenges, she shows up, breathes deep, and proves week after week that movement really is medicine!
In Stephen’s first class, he left the room three times ‘for fresh air’. Fast forward to now and both of them they are doing 3 classes a week; Feeling stronger, lighter, fitter and more flexible. And we’re just so proud to have them as part of the Yoga Universe crew.
Stephen and Lorraine – thank you for bringing the good vibes, honest energy, and showing us all how it’s done ❤️
