Athletes foot (tinea pedis) is a fungal infection that thrives in warm, moist environments. It's often found on the feet, especially between the toes. It's contagious and can be picked up from contaminated surfaces like swimming pools.
How to prevent the spread
• Protect your feet: Wear waterproof sandals or flip-flops in public areas like locker rooms and pool decks.
• Practice good foot hygiene: Wash your feet daily with soap and water, and dry them thoroughly, especially between your toes.
• Wear clean socks: Change your socks daily, and avoid reusing them without washing.
• Choose breathable footwear: Wear shoes made of natural materials that allow your feet to breathe.
• Avoid sharing items: Do not share shoes, socks, or towels with other people.
• Wash your hands: Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after touching an infected area on your foot to prevent spreading it to other parts of your body.

I can't praise Julia highly enough. I needed to arrange a nail trimming appointment at home for my elderly Mum at short notice after I was let down for two appointments in a row by my usual podiatrist. I rang at least 5 places, and none of them even bothered to ring me back. But when I found Julia, she responded promptly and was able to fit me in within a couple of days. When she arrived, I was impressed by her warm, friendly and kind manner. She was very patient and chatty with my Mum who has dementia. I was even more impressed by how thorough she was. She examined the condition of my Mum's feet carefully before starting work with tools from her massive 'box of tricks'. My Mum's last podiatrist literally just clipped my Mum's nails and went. But Julia examined between my Mum's toes, used various implements to deal with the lumps and bumps on her feet, 'sandblasted' the hard skin with an electric file, and finally lotioned my Mum's feet and gave her a lovely foot massage that practically had her purring. I want to keep Julia just for my Mum and me, but she deserves to be shared with everyone. Book an appointment with her. You and your feet won't be sorry!
