Temporary Issue with Online Consultation System
We are currently experiencing a technical issue with our online consultation system (Rapid Health) and it is temporarily unavailable.
❗ This means you may be unable to submit online requests at the moment.
📞 If you need medical assistance, please contact the practice by phone instead.
We are working with the provider to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and will update you as soon as the system is back online.

Hay Fever – it seems to be that time of year again!

For 3 years Fexofenadine has been available to buy from your chemist so we wont be prescribing this for you.

🌼 Eye drops (sodium cromoglycate) from the supermarket … take 2 weeks to start working so start using them now!
🌼 Wash your hair and face every night before bed so that you're not sleeping with pollen on your pillow
🌼 Dust your room down daily to remove pollen
🌼 Try to sleep with your windows closed
🌼 Loratadine will not make you sleepy, there are lots of other antihistamines you can buy from your pharmacist, please ask them for advice. You can now buy fexofenadine over the counter, this used to be prescription only.
🌼 Also use nose spray with a steroid in it – ask your pharmacist for advice
🌼 Nasal saline rinses can also be helpful
🌼 We do not offer the injection here, it is not available on the NHS due to a lack of evidence and we strongly advise against it.
🌼 All of this advice can be sought from your pharmacist or online

Meningitis & Vaccinations – Important Information for Patients
We understand there is concern following recent reports of meningitis cases. We would like to reassure you and provide clear guidance.

Are meningitis vaccines available at the GP surgery?

The NHS already provides protection against the most common types of meningitis through routine childhood and school vaccinations, including:

MenB (for babies)
MenACWY (given in school – Year 9)
Other routine childhood vaccines (e.g. Hib, pneumococcal)
These vaccines are offered only at specific ages as part of the NHS schedule.



Can I request the meningitis vaccine for my child?

We can only offer vaccines if your child is eligible under the NHS schedule or if there is a specific medical reason.

If your child is eligible, you will be contacted or it will show on our system.

We are not able to offer additional or early vaccinations outside of this guidance.

Chickenpox vaccine

The chickenpox vaccine is given as part of routine childhood vaccinations (MMRV).
It is not available as a separate vaccine at the GP surgery.

What should I do if I’m worried about meningitis?

Meningitis can be serious. Please seek urgent medical help if you or your child has:

A high temperature
A rash that does not fade when pressed
Neck stiffness
Sensitivity to light
Confusion or drowsiness
👉 Call 111 for advice or 999 in an emergency.
