I Am . . .

I am new, nurture me.
I am one, I'm not a little baby.
I am two, don't underestimate me.
I am three, let me play; trust me, I'm learning.
I am four, challenge me.
I am five, don't rush my childhood.

Not sure if baby is eating or drinking enough?

The vast majority of babies are incredibly good at regulating their appetites and communicating cues to parents and caregivers that they are hungry or full, but there are a few things you can look for to ensure baby is eating enough. It’s important to remember that during the first year of life, the primary source of nutrition should be breast (human) milk, or formula, which can be complemented by nutrient-dense solid food beginning at around 6 mos.

Baby is getting enough to eat when they are:

1️⃣ Sustaining consistent periods of being content, alert, and playful

2️⃣Having several wet diapers per day

3️⃣Energetically exploring their environment

4️⃣ Learning new skills; and steadily growing along their curve.

By age:

➡️6 to 8 mos: Aim to offer baby solid food 1 to 2 times a day. In these early days of starting solids focus on the skills of learning to eat rather than consumption. Breast (human) milk, or formula should remain baby’s primary source of nutrition.

➡️9 to 12 mos: Aim to offer baby solid food 2 to 3 times a day. Baby may still be taking in very little, so breast (human) milk, or formula continue to be baby’s primary source of nutrition.

➡️12 to 36 mos: Aim for 3 meals + 2 snacks a day and continue to offer breast (human) milk, cow milk, or formula feeds as desired.

Learning to eat solid foods takes time and babies will often continue to eat around the same volume of breast (human) milk or formula. If you have any concerns about baby’s weight or growth, always check in with their medical provider.

For more info on when and how much to offer baby according to age, see our sample feeding schedules on our website. Link in bio. 🤍

It's starting to look like summer might be here to stay 🤞

If you're getting worried about how to keep your baby cool while they sleep, take a look at our top tips for hot rooms.

We know it's hard to keep rooms cool in this country, so the most important thing to do is keep an eye on your baby for signs they are becoming too hot. To do this, check if their chest or back of neck feels clammy or hot. If your baby’s skin is hot or sweaty, remove one or more layers of bedclothes or bedding.
