April 11th was World Parkinson’s Day and it is an important opportunity to help raise awareness of the challenges people with Parkinson's can face day to day.

Parkinson’s doesn’t just affect movement. It can impact memory, mood, sleep, and confidence, making everyday tasks feel overwhelming. And while symptoms progress over time, the right support can make a real difference.

For our carers, that means patience, understanding, and adapting care to each individual, helping with mobility safely, supporting communication, and being mindful of emotional wellbeing.

Small, compassionate actions at home can protect dignity, reduce anxiety, and truly improve quality of life. Let’s continue to raise awareness and deliver care that really matters.

A little look at Luke’s Place over the Easter weekend 🌿

Did you know that Anchusa Care also has a small residential care home?

In the heart of Putteridge, it’s a peaceful setting where residents can enjoy the outdoors, spend time in the garden, and even visit the chickens.

The focus is on creating a warm and comfortable environment where people can feel settled and supported.

If you would like to find out more about Luke’s place, we’d be happy to help.

Part of our carers training is to help develop their skills in personal care.

This includes how to support shaving in a safe, respectful and person centred way. Something that requires both practical skill and sensitivity.

It's a small but important part of helping people feel like themselves, while receiving the support they need 💙

The importance of companionship 💙

Care isn’t just about practical support, it’s also about connection.

For many people, a visit from their carer is an important part of the day, not only for help with daily tasks, but for conversation, reassurance and a familiar face.

At Anchusa Care, we believe that meaningful relationships are just as important as practical support, and that person-centred care is about understanding what matters to each individual.

Today we’re celebrating a very special milestone… Lois’ 5-year anniversary with Anchusa Care 🎉

Lois joined us as an apprentice, and over the years has grown into our Finance Manager, a journey that says everything about her dedication, talent, and work ethic.

She is one of the kindest people you could meet, as well as being a funny, much loved member of the team. Behind the scenes, her hard work keeps everything running smoothly, and her commitment never goes unnoticed.

Lois, thank you for everything you’ve given to Anchusa Care over the past five years. We’re incredibly lucky to have you, and we’re proud of everything you’ve achieved.

Here’s to the next chapter 👏
