My top 5 recommendations for you in 2024 are to:

1. Eat nuts and seeds every day – they can cut risk of cancer and heart disease by a fifth.

2. Take 1-2g vitamin C daily – it lowers blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, reduces length and severity of infections, keeps skin supple and improves energy and mood – what’s not to like? Even better if combined with zinc and other synergistic nutrients like in my ImmuneC.

3. Keep your vitamin D level up. Supplement during the winter, ideally with a high strength formula. Vitamin D is vital for a whole host of health issues. Go for D3, not D2.

4. Eat a low GL diet – it’s good for weight, cravings, energy, diabetes, heart health, bone health, preserving memory and much more.

5. Green vegetables keep you healthy in mind and body say studies looking at dementia risk. Load up on brussels sprouts, broccoli, green cabbage and kale.

In fact my overriding message of this year is that taking steps to prevent ill health is far safer and more effective than taking drugs.

Also, pay attention to the latest scientific research on what's good for the mind, because what's good for the mind is good for the body. I'll be explaining more on this over the coming months.
