On Wednesday we had an exciting afternoon for those living with us at The Westbourne!

Elvis, cool and hip as ever, decided to rock and roll with us, and boy did he give us a wonderful show! He is always a welcome presence at The Westbourne, as he invited the residents to "shake rattle and roll"!

Everyone had a fantastic, fun-filled time and we cannot wait to see him come back to us later on this year!

Wednesday was a special day for those living with us at The Westbourne!

We had the ever popular and always entertaining Carl Brent, who came in this afternoon to shower us with music and laughter! We had a wonderful time singing and having a good laugh with each other. We cannot wait to see him come back in May!

We are so pleased to get to welcome Rob the Vicar back to The Westbourne for another year!

We got to pick different hymns to sing together as well as Rob reading out some passages. Once the service was over Rob spent time speaking with those living with us and their loved ones.

Spirituality is so important here at The Westbourne and we can't wait for the next service!

Everyone has come together to appreciate Scottish culture by holding our own Burns Night celebration!

We took part in some arts and crafts and listened to Scottish music and poetry. When that was all over we enjoyed a traditional burns supper with a loved one coming in and performing 'ode to a haggis'.

We got outdoors and basked in More...Fresh Air with three of our lovely Westbourne Friends, Sue, Graham and Winnie and went down to our local coffee shop, Holmes Sweet Home!

The trio had a delightful time perusing the menu and enjoying their coffee, tea and milkshakes, and we will definitely be frequent and regular guests at this incredible cafe!

On Monday we engaged the residents with a few bits of gentle housework, letting them fold clothes, dress up and chat with us and their favourite dolls, and even folding towels and flannels!

They were wonderfully engaged with their activities, having a great social time with our staff and other residents, along with getting to practice physical dexterity and spatial awareness. It was a lovely, gentle afternoon and they cannot wait to try it again!

We have tried out a new and exciting activity for our More...Movement sessions!

Those living with us had the best time taking part in bowling and we learned that one of the lovely ladies living with us was a bowling champion when she was younger! We all had so much fun playing and competing against one another to try and knock down the most skittles that even staff wanted to try their luck, so no doubt we will definitely introduce it regularly!

Those living with us had the amazing opportunity to experience the Westbourne Cinema! We all got together and enjoyed some delicious cinema style snacks and treats as we watched The Phantom of the Opera in our cinema room. We all had the most fantastic time engaging in More...Connection as we watched the film and shared commentary and laughter from start to finish!

This week at The Westbourne those living with us used More...Creativity as we made some beautiful bouquets for our loved ones as a part of International Flower Day. We had plenty of flowers and ribbons to organise our bouquets with and had the best time surprising our loved ones with such a special gift!

Often the best activities are the ones that are the most loved, and can be the simplest ones. Those who live with us absolutely love a good game of balloon tennis when we do our music and More...Movement sessions in the mornings. Today was no different as they had a wonderful time bouncing the ball back and forth to each other and trying to keep the balloon from hitting the ground. It was fun for everybody including family members, and for the activity staff themselves!

Today at The Westbourne, those who are living with us were happy to be involved in some pre-valentine's activities!

We started off the morning by creating Valentine's cards for their own special someone that they know very well in the care home - but this is only the beginning! We had so much fun today creating personalised Valentine's cards that we continued it after lunch and into the afternoon so that everybody could have a go!
