Here at the Westbourne we have embarked on an amazing cultural adventure as we celebrated Diwali. We created a whole day of celebration and festivities. Those living with us, along with our staff started our morning by dressing in our brightest colours and using our Diwali dress-up station we put on bangles and bindis to really immerse ourselves into the culture behind Diwali. Our first activity was to create some magnificent rangoli art as our activities team member explained the significance behind the art of rangoli during Diwali. This was then followed by a lunch and buffet, including various foods traditionally eaten on Diwali. To conclude the celebrations those living with us participated in a diya lighting ceremony as we listened to the story of Rama and Sita and how Diwali came to be. Those living with us as well as staff and relatives all came together to appreciate and celebrate this amazing day and we couldn't be happier at the enjoyment of all those with us!

As today is Apple Day, those living with us decided to make their very own chocolate apples, which not only commemorates Apple Day but also allows those living with us to get into the autumnal spirit. This activity promotes more...independence by allowing those living with us to make their own decisions as to what toppings they wish to use on their apples.

Here at the Westbourne, those living with us had a (golden) delicious afternoon and hopefully these chocolate apples keep the doctor away for a while!

We had a company called AMS Sports into the home to do a full filled exercise session, family members and those living with us got involved and we received some really positive feedback from this session.

We will be looking to get them to come into the home again as soon as possible, as we all had a brilliant time filled with lots of laughter and More...Movement.

She celebrated in true style with a marvellous birthday bash surrounded by her loved ones, and she was even surprised by her best friends from back in her school days, which meant the world to her.

Everyone had a great time making these, which sparked conversations from making these when they were younger.

We had a morning of Relish activities this morning, this was a way to get everyone involved with different kinds of activities from Aqua Painting, Jigsaws, and the animal match card game.

The aqua painting is always a hit and everyone enjoys getting involved.

As part of More.... Creativity, we did marble painting! This is to encourage those living with us to make their own decorations ready to transform the home into the Autumn theme in a few weeks.

While doing this activity one of the people living with us was talking about how they used to do this with the school children they used to teach, everyone picked their own colours and glitters to create their amazing art work.

Everyone's painting was fantastic and unique to how they wished it to look. We cant wait to get these made into Maple Leaves and made into bunting in the coming weeks.

We hosted a Macmillan Coffee Morning this morning, supporting those who are being supported by this amazing charity.

We have raised £131.40 for the Macmillan charity. I would like to thank everyone who kindly donated to such a wonderful cause, this will help Macmillan in so many ways, and I'm truly grateful to everyone who supported today.

Today is World Alzheimer's Day, which is a very important day here at The Westbourne.

To show our support and respect to those with Alzheimers, we took part in More...Creativity, and showing our skills by completed some colouring of the purple Alzheimer's banner to hang up around our home, whilst also having insightful conversations about Alzheimer's and what it means to everyone living with us.
