Mindful self-compassion training

I teach the Mindful Self-compassion 8 week programme in The High peak, Derbyshire, and East Cheshire
Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) is an empirically-supported, 8-week, 9 session (a day retreat is included) training program designed to cultivate the skill of self-compassion. Based on the groundbreaking research of Kristin Neff and the clinical expertise of Christopher Germer, MSC teaches core principles and practices that enable participants to respond to difficult moments in their lives with kindness, care and understanding. Rapidly expanding research demonstrates that self-compassion is strongly associated with emotional well-being, less anxiety, depression and stress, maintenance of healthy habits such as diet and exercise, and satisfying personal relationships. After participating in the 8 week 9-session programme, you’ll be able to:

· Practice self-compassion in daily life
· Understand the empirically-supported benefits of self-compassion
· Motivate yourself with kindness rather than criticism
· Handle difficult emotions with greater ease
· Transform challenging relationships, old and new
· Manage caregiver fatigue
· Practice the art of savoring and self-appreciation

🧠 If you’ve ever experienced brain fog, it’s more like brain debilitation. Brain fog isn’t “just you.” If your blood-sugar is on a roller coaster🎢 , it could be the main culprit. 🍭

➡️In short: Rapid sugar spikes (high glucose intake) turns to an insulin surge, causing inflammation, mood swings, and focus crashes. 🥴

If you’re able to keep that curve ⬆️ steady, your brain gets calmer, clearer, and sharper.😌💪

If you need help (from a FORMER SUGAR ADDICT 🙋‍♂️) my book Get Off Your Sugar serves as a great playbook with science-backed approaches, simple swaps, crave-control strategies, brain-fuel recipes, and MORE to stabilize blood sugar every day. 📘✨

Hello everyone
There is one more day retreat on October 4th at Disley Quaker meeting House for this year.
Please bring a packed lunch and a blanket if you like to be warm during quiet moments of reflection. I will be providing refreshments and a warm welcome :)
The time is 11.00-3.30pm and the cost is just £50.00
It will complete the series of mindful-self compassion themed day retreats. The theme for this one is "The art of compassionate communication" and gives a nod to Thich Nhat Hanh's book ' The art of communicating'
The day will cover aspects of mindfulness in our everyday relationships-including the relationship we have with ourselves. I will also be touching on forgiveness and caregiver fatigue so it will be a deep and precious day allowing for wisdom and insight to flow through the medium of kindness and self-compassion.
So please get in touch if you would like to know more/reserve your place.

Your gut and brain share the same control panel. 🧠 🎛️

🔄The gut–brain axis helps regulate stress, appetite, mood, digestion, sleep, pain, and overall health (yep, all of it). Here’s why it matters:

➡️~80% of your nervous system and immune system lives in your gut
➡️~95% of your serotonin (feel-good messenger) is made in the gut
➡️Your gut + brain talk nonstop via the vagus nerve

🆘When the gut is inflamed or “leaky,” distress signals (cytokines) can drive brain fog, low mood, poor sleep, and burnout—even without obvious GI symptoms.

✅Save & share this for quick reference, and let me know some of your favorite ways to balance and stimulate your vagus nerve.
