💥 Mr Motivator partners with Innerva to spearhead national push for active ageing

Derrick Evans MBE, otherwise known as Mr Motivator, has joined forces with Innerva as a brand ambassador to champion a new era of healthy and active ageing.

The partnership comes as the Health and Social Care Committee conducts its inquiry into healthy ageing, with experts including Chief Medical Officer Sir Chris Whitty emphasising how movement is key to independence and preventing ill health in later life. Contributors such as Sir Muir Gray, Age UK and the Centre for Ageing Better have highlighted the barriers older adults face in staying active, from the language used around exercise to the lack of opportunities on offer.

Evans says: “I’m excited to start this partnership with Innerva. We share the same values and want to raise the profile of active ageing. I’m living proof that movement can be medicine, especially as we get older. Maintaining independence and dignity is only possible if we look after ourselves and stay active. Yet, despite the UK’s ageing population, older people feel neglected by government and overlooked by the fitness industry. We need to empower older adults and help them find spaces where they feel welcomed and supported, can exercise safely and connect with others.”

Falls are estimated to cost the NHS more than £2.3 billion per year. Now, a simple and inexpensive exercise device is being launched which the inventors say could radically reduce those statistics.

Celebrating the power of inclusive wellness...

A big shout out to the Wellness Hub at Grimsby Leisure Centre, Lincs Inspire for helping Andrew Marriot thrive post-stroke.

Andrew has to travel from outside the borough and past his local leisure centre to use the hub’s Innerva's power-assisted equipment. Visiting the hub three times a week, the equipment has been a game-changer for Andrew, helping him build strength safely and regain his mobility in a supportive and social environment.

Well done to the team at Lincs Inspire for investing in inclusivity and truly making a difference.

We were absolutely thrilled to partner with the University of Strathclyde, NHS Lanarkshire and Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland for a pilot which aimed at supporting patients and staff in delivering rehabilitation on the acute stroke ward at University Hospital Wishaw.

The trial ran for 8 months and preliminary results show that patients almost tripled their daily time, adding an average of 53 minutes of additional therapy, bringing the daily total to 87 minutes. Some patients exceeded an extra 100 minutes per day.

We love the new campaign from We Are Undefeatable Undefeatable - S.O.F.A. - featuring Bill Bailey encouraging people to get and keep active right from the comfort of their own home, with simple exercises to keep moving - supporting people who face barriers to accessing activity due to illness or long-term health conditions to do something. Every movement counts 🙌

Howard is the mastermind behind Innerva’s innovative power assisted solution and thanks to his passion, dedication and pure commitment Howard has led our company to provide the world’s leading solution for and those with long term health conditions. People across the world are benefitting from a safe, accessible and fun exercise and rehabilitation solution and his impact will be felt for generations to come.

As Howard steps back from the business as a board advisor, all the team at Innerva will continue to pursue his dream, of keeping more older adults active and healthier in the second half of their lives – improving their everyday quality of life.
