Is your child entitled to DLA? They don’t need a diagnosis!

I’ve been speaking with lots of parents recently who’ve mentioned their child may have autism, ADHD or other additional needs – but they haven’t applied for DLA. 💭
When I explain that they have every right to apply, many parents tell me they “just can’t bring themselves to do it” or that they “don’t feel they should.” The reality is: this money is there to support children like yours. You are entitled to it – and it can make a huge difference.
✨ For example: one of my recent clients now uses their DLA to pay for private swimming lessons for their child. With the right support in place, he’s finally able to concentrate and learn! 🙌

The Department for Education has updated its response to our Save Our Children’s Rights petition (after the Petitions Committee asked them to because their first response didn't address the request of the petition).

But the revised response is still not remotely reassuring for families. Saying “There will always be a legal right to additional support” could mean anything. There’s no mention of the right to assessment, or to support that meets children and young people’s individual needs.

This is why it’s so important to keep the pressure on. Please keep sharing, signing the petition, and write to your MP to explain why legal rights matter - and to ask them to attend the debate on 15 September.
