As we land into Dying Matters Awareness Week, I'm so grateful to the Funeral Directors I am privileged to work with especially Larvin and Clegg Funeral Care - Congleton & Crewe who helped me embark on the journey as a Funeral Celebrant and Bereavement Counselor.

Also so honoured to run Grief Recovery Hubs across the island I now call home supporting anyone struggling with grief, from any source on their journey to recovery and encouraging open conversation about preparing for death, dying and grief

Mother's Day can be a hard occasion to get through for many, particularly if relationships are strained or you are grieving a loss. Be gentle today to yourself and those around you, gather some blossoms, make the most perfect cup of coffee, breath in the freshest air and nurture yourself x

Just dropped onto the page today to wish all the beautiful families I've had the privilege of looking after this year a peaceful Christmas and a joyous 2025, and to share the words below at a time which can be challenging amongst the tinsel. Sent with love to anyone who may need it x

Light a candle this festive time and look into its light,
Or gaze out of the window love, upon this starry night.

Stir the pudding, warm the pie, let no tear drop blur your eye,
Build a snowman, hang a star, I’m still with you dear from afar.

Sing a carol, give a gift, share the warmth of hearth and home,
In all you do this festive time I’m in your heart, you’re not alone.

Place a cherished angel on the tallest tree,
and as you do these simple things catch a thought of me

Our time together taught me what Christmas time is for
and that’s what I’ll remember til we meet once more

Well it's been a very long time coming, mountains have had to be climbed and many accept, adapt and overcome mantras chanted but out of the chaos change has arrived and with it relocation, reinvention and major recharge!

Over the next week or so more will be posted so please keep checking in and do invite your friends to pop on 'like' ...

Those lovely folks who have used my services as a Celebrant it would mean the world to me if you could take a moment to write a review too! ###

Such an important message from my friends at Birches x

Next week is the start of . This year, Dying matters has focused on bereavement and the workplace. We would love to be a part of opening up the discussion on how we can support grieving colleagues as it is so pertinent to the service we provide. At Birches our team know how important it is to support not just our families but also each other.

Being around loss every day can be hard. Here are some examples of how we support each other.

Be attentive and observant - is a person quiet or withdrawn today? Are there any other signs that someone is struggling?

Being mindful of the events in each others lives and taking the time to understand how the work environment could negatively impact mental health.

Be supportive - a cup of tea and taking a moment to listen can go a long way.

If you want to find out more about how you can support each other through a bereavement there are some excellent resources to be found online. https://www.hospiceuk.org/our-campaigns/dying-matters/dying-matters-resources

Been very quiet on FB and other platforms for many reasons lately, however never busier in my role as a Celebrant. I DON'T ask for 'reviews' following Funerals or memorials so was extremely touched to find the following has been left on my AOIC Website.

Jill recently helped us celebrate the life of our aunt who sadly passed away unexpectedly. From the very first contact with Jill, she was incredibly supportive and empathetic to our loss. When she met with us as a family, she listened and asked enough questions for her to get a real understanding and appreciation of who our aunt was. When it came to the funeral service itself, Jill met us at the crematorium, having made sure that everything was in place and how we had wanted it. She was dressed as one would expect, but she’d added a scarf of our aunt’s favourite colour, which was a lovely touch. Jill delivered the eulogy with warmth, and understanding and such expression that it made it feel as if she’d been a friend of Auntie’s her whole life. Everything went so smoothly led by Jill and I cannot thank her enough.
I could not recommend Jill highly enough for any event and will certainly use her for whatever occasion comes next for our family

If you're planning a wedding, you may be wondering whether to book a celebrant or registrar for your ceremony. Here are the key differences.

Twice in the past few days I've heard..
"I so wish you could have been our funeral Celebrant but ****(funeral director) told us we had to use their recommended people, they just didn't do what we wanted"

This makes me desperately sad and is NOT true

I don't tend to work for 'chains' preferring to stay with family run funeral services which means I DON'T tend to get as many services as some but I can am available for any family no matter which FD you use!!!

As a new road opens up, thank you to all who I travelled with during 2022.
Excited to have the opportunity to journey with wonderful people in 23 as they celebrate their marriages, anniversaries, or new additions and to support grieving families as they send their loved ones on their final journey.

Make it count, every moment of the day, every step of your journey in 2023.

With best wishes for the very best to come xx

Merry Christmas to all, thank you to everyone who has entrusted me with being your Celebrant for your life event through 2022...it's been a privilege to help celebrate weddings, vow renewals, naming ceremonies and to support families as they say goodbye to loved ones.

Just spent a 'different' few weeks with my storytelling hat on as Mother Christmas and loved every minute of meeting families and helping to bring a little sparkle to this time of year! X

A beautiful Sunday thought...

NO WAITING ROOM

What if you didn’t wake up tomorrow and your soul is watching down thinking of all the things you didn’t get to do yet because you were too scared, or too fat, or too worried about money. And all the things you told yourself you weren’t good enough for, swam in front of your eyes, fighting for a place in the line, beside the words you didn’t say and the joy you forgot to have.

My friend, there is absolutely no room for anything in your day, other than acceptance. You will never have enough money, or time, and you will certainly never have that perfect body the world told you you need to be happy.

And before you say it’s too late to embrace this thing we call life, no it is not. You can do it right where you are. Right this minute. Get outside, breathe, look at the trees, put your bare feet on the grass - hand on your heart to feel that pulse - and that’s it.

You’re living.

Keep that up.

Wait up for the moon sometimes or get up early to see a sunrise, just because you can.
Jump in the lake. Run, skip.
The things you need to feel alive are free and all around my friend.
You just have to see them.

Let in opportunity and say yes to the invitations that scare you a little, in a good way.
Say no to some of the things you force yourself to do, knowing they rinse you of your peace.

Life was never supposed to be a waiting room, it was supposed to be a hillside, with paths leading in every direction and mountains as far as the eye can see, hiding adventures and new friends behind them.

Don’t let yourself get to the end of this ride without having stopped to smell those beautiful roses.
That’s the only thing you need to fear in this life.
Everything else is all part of it.
It’s all just a messy, complicated, beautiful and terrifying part of it.

Chin up, throw your arms wide open
and let it be so.
