Hi my name is Rosa Stevens. I have worked as a Counsellor for a local Counselling Organisation for several years, providing secondary care and a vitally needed counselling service for adults and youth who might otherwise be excluded because of finance or shortfall in service provision. To date, I have played a crucial role in improving the health and wellbeing of over 100 clients between the age of 14 to 83 years. I believe my speciality is working with anxiety, depression, past and current trauma, bereavement, anger management and low self-esteem.
I am a member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapist, the BACP membership requires for counsellors to take regular Supervision, abide by the Ethical Framework and monitors professional development. My practice includes full liability insurance and I am registered with ICO, in relation to GDPR. My liability insurance requires me to keep client's files for 5 years post therapy. Clients can request their clinical notes if they wish however, the information will be safely stored until it will be safely disposed.
During my professional journey, I have developed several therapeutic skills however, my life coaching CPCAB qualification has led me to the interesting world of Life Coaching. I have tailored life coaching to accommodate the cultural demand. I appreciate how powerful positive psychology can be however, I believe that it must be used wisely during the therapeutic journey as otherwise it can create further discrepancies in your sense of self, by triggering further anxiety. I am a member of the BACP Coaching division, I practice Life Coaching within the BACP framework, abiding by ICO - GDPR, with coaching liability insurance and supervision.
Having worked with young people as a Life Coach and Counsellor, inspired me to embrace my next stage as a safeguarding practitioner. Assessing safeguarding concerns has enabled me to develop a greater insight in the lives of families and young people. This journey has led me to focus in offering a service to bridge a gap in our society, helping young people and parents develop emotional intelligence and be able to emotionally self-regulate. Creative mindfulness focuses to enable parents, carer and teachers engage with young people and guide them in developing resilience, emotional regulation and build emotional intelligence, which will help young people communicate more effectively, therefore focuses to prevent mental illness. I believe creative mindfulness is one of many tools that can help preventing some adverse childhood experiences.

I believe I practice a holistic approach this means; “I take into account mental and social factors, rather than just the symptoms”— I don't merely attempt to alleviate the fatigue, anger and anxiety that often come along with mental and emotional struggles however, I like to address the roots of the cause. This intervention involves treating the client as a whole person considering their individual ecosystem. This includes looking at everything that surrounds my clients, this allows me to create an effective, individualised treatment plan.
My holistic approach focuses on the relationship between mind, body, and spirit, attempting to understand and address the ways issues in one aspect of a person can lead to concerns in other areas. Pursuing this approach enables my clients to become better attuned to their awareness and promotes a greater acceptance of self.
The ideas behind the holistic approach is to prevent symptoms affecting other parts of the self i.e: If my unhelpful thinking is triggering anxiety, my body is also experiencing the effects therefore, if left untreated this may cause other physical conditions. I believe that being a wellness-focused therapist allows me to get my clients to strike a balance in taking care of themselves by taking care of their mind, body, and spirit. This often encourages clients to explore other areas of their life that can be improved, aimed at relapse preventions. Often my clients explore new physical activities, nutritions, new mindfulness techniques and re-connect with what is important to them.
My approach attempts to reduce the amount of sessions needed for my clients and to achieve an overall improved sense of well-being.
