Holywood Men's Shed

Holywood Men's Shed Holywood Men's Shed is for all men. It brings men together to do practical projects for the good of the community and promotes well being of participants.

What is a Men’s Shed? The Holywood men's shed is a social community group (with charitable status) that provides a safe, welcoming community learning space for predominantly retired members of the community, people out of work or going through life transitions due physical and mental health issues, bereavement or relationship breakdowns and the like. The aim of the men's shed is to prevent social

isolation, to provide a space for skill sharing and to engage with community development. The Holywood men's shed has been running since 2011. We currently support 25 volunteer members and engage in activities such as arts and crafts, woodwork and community development. We periodically run community events such as forest schools, foraging, easter egg hunts, halloween parties, etc. These are largely family and intergenerational activities and are open to the whole community. Over the past few years our members have worked very hard on inclusion for all. We have built a community enchanted sensory garden which is free to use and open to the public 24/7; it has been proven very popular with families and community groups alike. Please don't forget to share your photos and comments on our page to give others an insight to the wonderful space we provide to keep projects like this in the public eye and remember please enjoy do not destroy!

In furtherance of our partnership with Copeland Island Bird Observatory several of our members made a work trip to the island on Sunday. They enjoyed a great trip and hospitality and hope to go out again soon. Members have been working hard during the winter and spring making nest boxes for the Observatory for the nesting season.

♻️ HOLYWOOD MEN’S SHED NEEDS YOUR CANS!
Turning aluminium into awesomeness — one can at a time
📍 Drop‑off Point
The Stable Yard, Redburn Country Park, Holywood, BT18 9QS

🥫 What We’re Collecting
Empty aluminium drink cans (all brands, all colours, all levels of fizz previously contained)

A quick rinse is appreciated

Drop them at the Stable Yard anytime the park is open

Got a mountain of cans? We can arrange collection — we’ve got strong backs and questionable judgement

😂 Why Help?
Because every can you donate:

Raises funds for the Shed

Supports men’s wellbeing and community projects

Reduces the number of cans rolling around the back of your car

Helps us prove that recycling is basically weightlifting for the planet

🌱 Small Cans. Big Impact.
Your cans help us keep the Shed thriving — building community, tackling isolation, and giving men a place to connect, create, and occasionally argue about the correct way to hold a hammer.
