Today touches something deep in my heart.
I don’t usually mark feast days—but July 22, the Feast of Saint Mary Magdalene, has always felt different. Sacred. Important.
Growing up in church, even as a child, I remember thinking:
Why is it always men?
Jesus. The disciples. The voices, the power—it was always male.
Mother Mary was holy because she was a virgin.
Mary Magdalene? Branded a pr******te.
Deep down, I knew something wasn’t right.
And the more I sought truth—not what I was told, but what I felt—the more I uncovered.
Mary Magdalene wasn’t a fallen woman. She was a disciple. A teacher. A leader.
Ancient texts found in Egypt like the Gospel of Mary affirm her sacred wisdom. Her voice was never lost , only buried.
And I know, as a woman, how hard it is to become what you’ve never seen.
When we aren’t shown ourselves in sacred spaces, how do we know we belong there?
For generations of girls, growing up in a world that erased the divine feminine.
Today is for all the women who were silenced, disempowered, hurt.
Today is for remembering, reclaiming, and rising.
We honour her. We honour each other.
We honour the divine feminine that lives in us all.
This day isn’t just about history it’s a return to ourselves.
To our strength.
To our softness.
To our sacred power and our magic. ✨
I couldn’t fit all of it into words here—but if you feel this too, you already know.
Happy Feast Day, Saint Mary Magdalene.
Photos from France from a pilgrimage I went on to learn more about Mary , the learning came in huge big lessons that may be for another post in the future. 😉
