Great article that illustrates the key issue in health and social care - elderly people, in particular, are not able to leave hospital because of an absence of support when they return home, meaning less capacity to treat people in the hospitals.

Proper funding of healthcare for people living in their own homes is critical if we are to resolve the health crisis. Investment in this area is not a “nice to do” it is essential.

At CWK we are the only Devon care organisation that specifically aims to provide high quality and affordable care to elderly people in rural areas. For us, notwithstanding our social purpose principles, we are limited by the number of local authority funded people we can support because of the low rates of reimbursement we receive. Given our aim of providing great terms and conditions for our wonderful carers - this is a challenging problem to resolve.

To all unpaid carers and all our care angel's at Care With Kindness, it is National Carer's week. We understand that you give your time selflessly to care for your loved ones, with little gratitude and no pay in return.

We really hope that before the next National Carer's week there is more recognition in general for all Carers, but also that unpaid carers are recognised for the role they provide saving the government money.

Last Friday, we hosted our first *Care Together* session to give respite to our clients' fabulous family and friends who provide additional care support for their loved ones in recognition of what they do and to give them respite during hard times.
