Understanding a “pressure stent” in the eye 👁️
For many patients living with glaucoma, managing pressure inside the eye is one of the most important parts of protecting long-term vision.
A pressure stent is a tiny, highly specialised device often no bigger than a grain of rice designed to gently improve how fluid drains from within the eye.
When that natural drainage slows down, pressure can build up over time.
And it’s that pressure that can quietly affect the optic nerve and, ultimately, vision.
By placing a micro-stent, such as the iStent inject, we’re able to create a new pathway for fluid to flow more freely helping to lower pressure in a controlled, minimally invasive way.
For many, this means:
• Better pressure control
• Reduced reliance on daily drops
• A more proactive approach to protecting sight
It’s not about quick fixes — it’s about long-term care, precision, and doing what’s right for each individual patient.
If you’ve been advised about a pressure stent and aren’t sure what it means, having the right conversation is always the first step.
