✨MEET THE TEAM✨
Name: Angelika
Job title: Care Assistant
Time at Wykeham House: 5 years
Why did you choose to work in care?
I began working in care as a general assistant, mainly in the kitchen, after a friend recommended me for the role. As I spent more time in the environment, I realized how much I enjoyed being around and supporting the residents. I’ve always been a compassionate person who genuinely enjoys helping others, so transitioning into a care assistant role felt like a natural step. I love being able to make a positive difference in someone’s day—even if it's just through a smile or a bit of silliness. My goofy personality helps me connect with people and bring a little joy and comfort to their daily lives.
What do you love about your job?
What I love most about my job is the deep sense of satisfaction and purpose it brings me. Every day, I feel fulfilled knowing I’m making a positive impact in someone’s life, even in small ways. It also gives me a strong sense of belonging, which is especially meaningful to me as an immigrant. Being surrounded by the residents feels like having a big extended family—like I’ve gained many grandmothers and grandfathers. It’s truly heartwarming and makes my work feel even more special.
What are your hopes for the future?
My hopes for the future are to continue growing both personally and professionally. One of my main goals is to improve my English by constantly communicating with residents and staff. Every conversation helps me feel more confident and connected. I also hope to keep bringing joy and comfort to the residents—I love seeing their smiles and knowing I’ve made even a small difference in their day. Being part of their lives is truly meaningful to me, and I want to keep building those relationships while becoming the best version of myself in this role
