Fabulous Core Conditioning for Horses training day today at Lomond Classical Riding Centre.
Lots of kissing spine rehab horses, and plenty of performance enhancement sessions too.

I’m always emotionally invested in all my rehab cases, but when one is owned by one of your childhood friends and they’ve worked so hard to achieve results, it’s all the more exciting and satisfying. Amazing job Sophie and Winston 😍

So proud of my lovely friend Sophie and her horse Winston for this breakthrough moment with his spinal rehab.

Here’s a little promotional video I’ve made to show more of the rehab side of equine physio that people often don’t realise we do.
Physiotherapy as a profession is defined by three specific treatment modalities: 1) manual (hands-on) treatment like massage and joint manipulations, 2) electrotherapy machines, and 3) exercise based treatments. Without good exercise prescription, manual and electrotherapy treatments will only give you so much benefit. All three together will get the results you need.

Young Flash making excellent progress with his teenage owner. They’ve done all their homework on the basics at walk, and have therefore been able to push on to the next stage in our session today: their first attempt at FDO lunging at trot.
As ever, inspired by Core Conditioning for Horses

Young Flash and his teenage owner getting to grips with their first flexibility session this morning. Great work 👌

To all our horsey buddies! (And please "Share" to all your horsey friends too).
This to me is art. Loose, free and fast. Less is more. This is all about getting just enough down as is necessary, as quickly and spontaneously as possible.
These are two recent studies. The first is using black ink, the second is using an 8B pencil. Which do you prefer?
If you would like one of these done, send me your horsey pictures (the more contrast the better), and I'll get back to you. Once mounted and framed properly, they really do look very nice. See an example in the comments below.
These pieces are very budget friendly. Take the opportunity to commission one, and then you get an original piece of art 🙂

Fantastic day of learning at the Core Conditioning for Horses clinic day yesterday. A real mix of horses and riders, from unbacked youngsters to established eventers and everything in between.
As ever, so much for everyone to take away from the day, and some masterclass demos from Simon Cocozza himself.
(Apologies for the quality of some of the photos due to being in an indoor arena)

Transformation Tuesday.
This is my own young horse. With a lot of help from my friends at Core Conditioning for Horses, I’m sure you’ll agree this chap has built a pleasing amount of muscle in just 2.5 months.
He is 7, but with the majority of his genetics being ID, he was always going to be a slow developer. Never be afraid to go back to basics, even for a prolonged amount of time. It will always pay off. Your horse will thank you for it.

This is a great exercise I haven’t used for a while: the hog’s-back poles circles.
Using a small circle to encourage lateral bend, which in turn should lead to dorsoventral stretch (long and low), with the added task of lifting the limbs, which (amongst other things) will engage the abdominal muscles.
