TO THE WOMAN WHO THINKS SHE ISN’T GOOD ENOUGH

To the woman who looks around and wonders why everyone else is so much more capable, so much stronger, so much more ambitious than her.
To the woman who thinks everyone else is blazing a fiery path through this thing we call life, while she limps behind, barely getting through the days.
Somewhere, another woman is looking at you thinking exactly the same.
You see, we all look like we’re kinda nailing it, from the outside in.
We all look ‘together’ sometimes.
Catch us on the right day and hey, we look like we have it all.
Because guess what, we learned to look that way a long time ago.
We learned to hide our struggles behind a smile and whack on that mask every day.
And actually, we are doing each other a favour when we show up,
just as we are,
warts and all,
late,
flustered,
human.
What we really need to see is that we are all the same.
We all struggle.
We all fall apart.
Some days we nail it, other days we get nailed.
By hiding our own weaknesses, fears, worries, we give them more power.
If you let it out, shine a light on it all, it becomes so much less scary, funny even…
And goodness only knows we need to laugh.
So, to the woman who wonders if she is good enough…
If this is you.
Yes you are.
You always were.
You don’t have to live up to everyone’s expectation of how you should be coping.
You are human, flawed, wonderful, miraculous, loveable, loved.
I see you,
Now do me a favour and go see all the others too.
Spread the word, we are good enough, just as we are.

Interesting read… might help some people reevaluate the true meaning of self-care.

“Self-care is often a very unbeautiful thing.

It is making a spreadsheet of your debt and enforcing a morning routine and cooking yourself healthy meals and no longer just running from your problems and calling the distraction a solution.

It is often doing the ugliest thing that you have to do, like sweat through another workout or tell a toxic friend you don’t want to see them anymore or get a second job so you can have a savings account or figure out a way to accept yourself so that you’re not constantly exhausted from trying to be everything, all the time and then needing to take deliberate, mandated breaks from living to do basic things like drop some oil into a bath and read Marie Claire and turn your phone off for the day.

A world in which self-care has to be such a trendy topic is a world that is sick. Self-care should not be something we resort to because we are so absolutely exhausted that we need some reprieve from our own relentless internal pressure.

True self-care is not salt baths and chocolate cake, it is making the choice to build a life you don’t need to regularly escape from.

And that often takes doing the thing you least want to do.

It often means looking your failures and disappointments square in the eye and re-strategizing. It is not satiating your immediate desires. It is letting go. It is choosing new. It is disappointing some people. It is making sacrifices for others. It is living a way that other people won’t, so maybe you can live in a way that other people can’t.

It is letting yourself be normal. Regular. Unexceptional. It is sometimes having a dirty kitchen and deciding your ultimate goal in life isn’t going to be having abs and keeping up with your fake friends. It is deciding how much of your anxiety comes from not actualizing your latent potential, and how much comes from the way you were being trained to think before you even knew what was happening.

If you find yourself having to regularly indulge in consumer self-care, it’s because you are disconnected from actual self-care, which has very little to do with “treating yourself” and a whole lot do with parenting yourself and making choices for your long-term wellness.

It is no longer using your hectic and unreasonable life as justification for self-sabotage in the form of liquor and procrastination. It is learning how to stop trying to “fix yourself” and start trying to take care of yourself… and maybe finding that taking care lovingly attends to a lot of the problems you were trying to fix in the first place.

It means being the hero of your life, not the victim. It means rewiring what you have until your everyday life isn’t something you need therapy to recover from. It is no longer choosing a life that looks good over a life that feels good. It is giving the hell up on some goals so you can care about others. It is being honest even if that means you aren’t universally liked. It is meeting your own needs so you aren’t anxious and dependent on other people.

It is becoming the person you know you want and are meant to be. Someone who knows that salt baths and chocolate cake are ways to enjoy life – not escape from it.”

Hello everyone!

After a couple of eventful years including broken bones, lockdowns, house sales and moves I am delighted to announce that I will be open again for business!

I’m in the process of finalising my new therapy space, tweaking the website and associated social media and looking forward to seeing clients again, both old and new.

I’m now based in the lovely village of Hagworthingham, a short drive from Horncastle and will be taking bookings for massage, Reiki and hypnotherapy.

If anyone wants to enquire about availability and services please message me.

Thanks
Nicky x

I’ve taken the difficult decision to close my clinic premises with immediate effect, a massive thank you to all my lovely clients past and present 🙏

I am still available for advice over a coffee and catch up, Reiki courses and still have stocks of Himalayan Salt lamps for anyone looking to purchase one.

I will be back offering treatments in the future, but for now I am taking a break.

Look after yourselves and remember that you matter. xx

Love this... routine is so important during this time, doesn't have to be the same as normal but it can make the day more bearable... and don't forget to unplug occasionally and get some fresh air. Look after yourselves and stay safe x

Just a quick update from me regarding appointments at the moment.

I am currently not taking any bookings for appointments in clinic, unusually not because of the coronavirus, but because I have broken my ankle and am not mobile enough to attend clinic.

Please bear with me, I will be out of action until at least the middle of April. Of course I am monitoring the other issue as well and will be following all necessary guidelines when opening for future business.

Thank you for your patience at this time. Stay safe everyone and keep smiling.

Did you know I offer Hot Stone Massage in my list of treatments?

It's a brilliant option for a deeply relaxing experience when you need to switch off completely, can be beneficial for anyone suffering with arthritis, with clients reporting reduced pain levels in the days following a treatment.

Finally, the scientists have their proof.... Reiki works. Want to know more? Ask me...

It's been a long time coming, but the Reiki study conducted at Harvard by members of the Center for Reiki Research (Dr. Natalie Dyer, Dr. Ann Baldwin, and William Rand) in 2015 and 2016 has now been accepted for publication in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine! This is the largest prospective Reiki study to date and hopefully will lead to more research.
🙌✨💥🙏🧘‍♀️🧘‍♂️
A total of 1411 Reiki sessions were conducted and included in the analysis. Statistically significant improvements were observed for all outcomes of psychological and physical health, including pain, drowsiness, tiredness, nausea, appetite, shortness of breath, anxiety, depression, mood, and overall wellbeing, with moderate to large effect sizes (all p values < 0.001).
The results from this large-scale multi-site effectiveness trial suggest that a single session of Reiki improves physical and psychological health.
