Feel like you've lost your sparkle? You aren't the only one...

Christmas doesn't always bring up feelings of excitement, but that can be what we think we're 'meant' to feel. It can feel so lonely if we think we're the only ones who are grieving lost loved ones and relationships, fearful of the future, or unsure of how to navigate our present. And whilst we are surrounded by people we may still feel alone with our thoughts. Counselling may not be what we automatically think of when we think of Christmas but it can give you something you may not find elsewhere - a calm, accepting space for you to untangle those thoughts and feelings. And whether you're ready to offer yourself that gift or not, you can still do things to help yourself and others struggling through this period...remember that it's okay to feel lots of different things, that you are allowed to take time for yourself, and that you can be kind to yourself. And maybe, given time, space and some care, you may start to notice that sparkle again...

Does it seem like some of your feelings are out of control? Like they’re hijacking you and becoming overwhelming? Feelings can be messy and seem muddled…we may be able to name the biggest one but not all the others that are underneath. But all are important and useful and whilst it might be scary and daunting, it’s helpful to notice and listen to them all. Counselling can help you to detangle and identify them so that you can make more of a choice about what to do with them, how to show them to the world. To feel more in control of them all.

It's almost the end of June, so we're officially halfway through the year...how many of us feel we've been standing still since January 1st whilst the world and everyone else has rushed past us? Or as if so much has happened for us that's it's been hard to find a moment to breathe, reflect and process it all? So if you're feeling like you haven't moved since New Year's Eve and aren't sure why you're stuck, or if soooo much has happened that you just don't know where to start, why not look at detangling it all with some online or face to face counselling sessions? Check out my website or message me to see how it could help make a difference to how you feel, because feeling like this so far doesn't mean you have to keep on feeling like this...

Yes, Father's Day is here and this can bring up so many things for each of us, parents and (grown up) children alike - what comes up for you when you think about your own father? How do you feel when you picture them? Is there anything you would like them to know but which you haven't been able to share?

I think many of us would agree that how we feel about whoever has taken that role of 'dad' in our lives can't be summed up by a preprinted card. Fathers are in our lives in all manner of ways, and some are more present than others, and absent or not, our relationships with them can bring up some complicated thoughts and feelings.

Why not take some time this week and think about what you think & feel about whatever presence that person has or had in your life?

And however you spend your father's day this year, and whoever you spend it with, try to take care of yourself as well as you can.

Imagine if you had a broken arm—would you hesitate to get a cast?

Of course not!

You’d take care of it because your health matters.

Well, your brain deserves that same level of care.

Sometimes, our minds just need a little extra support, and that’s where medications come into play.

They’re like helpful tools that can make things a bit easier, helping you feel better, think more clearly, and really get the most out of life.

It’s incredibly brave to seek out the support you need, whether that’s through therapy, medication, meditation, exercise, diet changes, or combination.

And while it’s totally okay to keep it private if you’re on medication, there’s no reason to feel ashamed or alone.

You’re taking charge of your wellness, and that’s something to be proud of.

Mental health meds don’t define who you are—they’re just one piece of your overall wellness plan.

The important thing is finding what works best for you and being open to using the resources that can help you thrive.

Taking medication doesn’t mean you’re weak; it actually shows how strong and proactive you are.

You’re doing what you need to do to take care of yourself, and that’s something to celebrate.
