On Saturday the 31st August 1265 (Horncastle) Sqn Royal air Force Air Cadets will be raising money for the Sqn Ldr Mark Long appeal (see poster attached) in the form of a bag pack. On 25th May some of our squadron were attending a dedication ceremony at Market Stainton in memory of a Lancaster that crashed nearby during WWII and Sqn Ldr Long was meant to do a fly past after he'd done a short display at East Kirkby museum but obviously he never turned up. We thought it fitting that 1265 Sqn should help this cause.
Please give generously.

AIR CADETS RUSH TO AID LOCAL MAN
On Sunday 28th July twelve of our cadets took part in a small formal parade in Hammerton Gardens Horncastle. This annual parade was in support of the Royal British Legion and the Korean War Veterans to commemorate the anniversary of the signing of the Korean war armistice.
After our cadets were dismissed one of them witnessed a gentleman fall from his bicycle injuring his arm near the Mermaid Fish shop.
He assured the man he was going for help and leaving his mother with the man ran to the cadet hut to get help and our first aid kit.
One of our corporals took control of the situation and cleaned and tendered to his injury. On quizzing the gentleman he found out that the man was on blood thinners, hence the unusual amount of blood from the wound. He managed to stop the bleeding and made sure the man was sat down as he was shaking from shock.
Another of our cadets turned up and rang for an ambulance which arrived promptly.
I believe these cadets showed great initiative and set a fine example of what the RAFAC ethos stands for and put their first aid training to good practical use that day,
As part of their Progressive Training System our cadets are given Essential First Aid (EFA) training within the first 6 months of joining and within their first year go on to take their Youth First Aid (YFA) qualification which is a 2 day intensive course and gives them a better knowledge of how to handle wounds, burns and other scenarios that they may come across in the home and elsewhere.
All the cadets involved hold a YFA.
I congratulate them for their professionalism in keeping calm under a stressful situation.

We had a fantastic time supporting the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations at the Scrivelsby Estate last night. What an incredible event it was, with a light show, fireworks, music from our local brass band and, of course, the beacon lighting. Our thanks to the Dymokes for inviting us along.

Thank you to all the members of the public for their patience whilst our cadets helped you to park - we were more than aware of how busy this was at times!
