Where have I been lately?
🚨 Alert - long read🚨

I’ve been quiet because it’s taken 3 weeks for me to get through my second bout of COVID in 12 weeks; and starting a new job on my first day of being negative on lateral flow🙄.

Covid 2nd time around hit me worse because it was likely the new variant and I had terrible exhaustion, cough and loss of taste and smell. I still don’t feel 100% but I am looking after myself.

My new job requires a lot of learning and getting used to new processes. I’ve left a job I was in a clinical role for 21 years and settled in that area, but now I am helping with the operational management of the outpatient service at the hospital I worked in. So big learning curve.

Getting my youngest ready to transition from Year 6 to Year 7. I can’t believe my baby is no longer my baby. I’m sure some of you lovely people understand that feeling 🥺.

Anyway I am going to start showing my face and being more active on here AND I am still taking orders and sorting out my Halloween and Christmas items. I’m tired after writing all this!

If you have got this far, hurrah and thank you ☺️!

I practice gratitude on a daily basis, in private.
However, today I want to tell you publicly, how grateful I am to my lovely customers.
Thank you for supporting me and my small business over the past month.

Here at SC HQ, Riley and I are spending as much time outside these days, but sometimes you just have to know when it’s too hot for Riley (he’d beg to differ)😂.

Over the years I have tried the following to keep Riley safe during the hot weather, some have worked and some have just been a waste of time although well meaning.

😎Encourage your dog to stay in shaded areas and away from direct sunlight - how many of you will raise your hands and say, my dog lies in the full rays, despite giving them plenty of places to take shade from the sun 🤣

😎Put down damp towels for them to lie on - reminds Riley too much of bath time, so a big no-no😝

😎 fill a hot water bottle with cold water, and place under your dogs blanket or place on your dogs bed - has worked for Riley, although he likes to spread out on the laminate floors instead 😊

😎 put your hose on and turn it into a game - Riley’s not a fan!🥺

😎Place a wet or frozen bandana around your dogs neck or over their collar - best idea for Riley

What works for your dog? Drop me an idea that works below👇🏻

As you already know, I’m biased when it comes to dog breeds.

Riley is my 3rd Cocker, however I’ve been brought up with different dog breeds ever since I can remember.

I’ve had mixed breeds and pedigree doggies from smallest Pomeranian “Glenda” to a big girl, German Shepherd “Zoeie”. Both dogs came into my life at the right time, and were my rocks and companions for many years.

Back in 2002, I was given a gorgeous Cocker - black and white boy and I called him Rags. He helped me explore my local area and meet new dog owners. He was my constant companion exploring different walks across the Essex countryside. And like him, Riley, loves companionship, trying different walks and follows me everywhere.

What was your first dog and are you a mixed breed or pedigree owner? What is it about that breed that caught your attention?

⭐️Let’s get together and celebrate a day dedicated to all the fantastic women we know in our lives and business. ⭐️

This day celebrated on 8th March internationally commemorates women’s achievements, be it in a cultural, political and socioeconomical way.

Who would you like to celebrate day?
Who has inspired you to be the person you are?
Who would you invite to dinner if you could to listen to words of wisdom or their story?

Don’t forget to tag your bestie or the person you would like to celebrate.

From the age of 3 I have never known life without a pet to care for, whether it be goats, ponies, cats or dogs. I actually wanted to be a vet until I was 18, and spent many school holidays shadowing our local vet.

I always had an infinity for animals big and small and over the past few years, I have been benefitting from the unconditional love and companionship of Riley for my mental health.

My worries, anxiety and stress disappears when I stroke his head and as he looks at me with his large brown eyes.

The benefits of pet ownership has been well documented, but I would love to hear how your pet/s have benefitted your life, currently or in the past 👇 💚 🧠

Why did I choose my brand colours?

Well it was easy, because pink represents my friendly, playful spirit and helps calm me, bring joy and warmth into my life. It also bursts with pure romance as displayed in my photo of my favourite Valentines bow.

What colours do you deviate towards and why? I'd love to hear 👇 🎀

If your dog doesn’t like or tolerate bandana’s there are lots of ways to add a bit of dazzle to your dogs collar, such as a bow.

Bows can be clipped on, or attached over the collar with elastic or velcro.

What accessories do you add to your dogs collar, lead or harness?

This was a surprise to me, but, when I was reading a pet accessories article recently;
❤️ that 58.6% – of pet owners admit to spending anything from £11 to £100 on their pet (not just dog) this Valentine’s Day,
❤️compared to a whopping 23% of who admitted on spending nothing on their partner.
❤️Have you been shopping for lavish gifts for your loved one yet? Hubby and I don't celebrate as he feels I have enough of an excuse for presents, chocs and card on our wedding anniversary😆
❤️Or have you spent all your money on your loyal fur-babies instead?
This lovely rainbow heart set is now available on my Etsy shop (link in bio) and can be bought as a set or as separate items.

Did you know January is Walk Your Dog month? Can I let you into a secret, I didn't either until I overheard someone talking in the park at the weekend (guilty as charged 😆).

If you're anything like me, having over indulged and been less active over Christmas, what better excuse now than to get moving after lots of festive feasting and to explore some of the UK’s most beautiful landscapes.

I am so very lucky to have a lovely park to walk my dog Riley, often choosing different routes depending on my mood, energy levels, and as dictated by Riley. Being a Cocker Spaniel, his nose is usually on the ground and he often dashes in one direction, which usually dictates the length and route we follow that day.

So I pack as much into my dog walking bag (see picture of my summer walking bag) as possible, to ensure I have enough essentials for both Riley and I.

What is your favourite place to walk your dog in the UK? and what items can you not do without to ensure you have a happy walk?
