So, I had fun and games Valentineās Day, was out in the garden spray cleaner on artificial grass where the dogs go and stepped backwards, tripped and turned, went straight through a lean to greenhouse hands first!!!
Managed to get back in the house to shout my wife who I was luck enough to be wfh as the claret was spitting out of my left palm hitting the ceiling!
Anyway long story short we made it to Hull A&E via a UTC to stop the bleeding with a dressing. Hull patched it up with pressure and yesterday I went back to the plastics team for operating on, they then discovered thanks to my records and medi bracelet I have a crt-d and so began a very long day, it involved long phone calls to various other cardio teams and manufacturers as they were to use a bipolar surgical tool on my injury and were sure what the best solution was, Iām paced 98% as well for lbbb, never had an issue other than a HA 7/9/22 and 2 stents fitted.
Eventually I was operated on with nerve block and they used a magnet to disable the defibrillator (alarm inside chest was a bit scary) but still allowing the pacer to continue its good work. The bipolar was used for less than a minute in the end but better safe than sorry hey?
So I had severed my main digit nerve and main artery in my left had, both re connected thanks to the amazing lady surgeon and a team of about 10 inc crash team just in case.
I have a splint and dressing on now for 10 days and fingers crossed (pun intended) Iāll g*t some sensation back, least the ligaments werenāt damaged so Iāll be able to move em.
