Had my first annual review yesterday and it didn’t make me feel any better!

I wasn’t looking for a ā€œhey it’s a miracle you’re curedā€ from the Dr but she did make me feel low!

Had a HA Sept 22 left 11 hrs by HULL A&E screaming in agony and eventually moved to Castle Hill and had 2 x 6cm stents fitted, have never been told much at all then last July had my Thunder fitted ICD, again I’ve not felt much different and have been asymptomatic all along.

Yesterday was told no change as the damage to my heart was that severe and my EF is 25 and not expected to improve and that the drugs are what is keeping me going, I gym train walk 10 miles a day with 5 huskies and work with my dogs.

Just left me deflated, I get they have to be real and they’re not counsellors BUT they lack hope which sometimes is what we cling to isn’t it? I’m extremely positive and avoid neg*tivity like the plague, just wish I’d never gone to the appointment now.

Anyone else long term EF25?

So, I had fun and games Valentine’s Day, was out in the garden spray cleaner on artificial grass where the dogs go and stepped backwards, tripped and turned, went straight through a lean to greenhouse hands first!!!

Managed to get back in the house to shout my wife who I was luck enough to be wfh as the claret was spitting out of my left palm hitting the ceiling!

Anyway long story short we made it to Hull A&E via a UTC to stop the bleeding with a dressing. Hull patched it up with pressure and yesterday I went back to the plastics team for operating on, they then discovered thanks to my records and medi bracelet I have a crt-d and so began a very long day, it involved long phone calls to various other cardio teams and manufacturers as they were to use a bipolar surgical tool on my injury and were sure what the best solution was, I’m paced 98% as well for lbbb, never had an issue other than a HA 7/9/22 and 2 stents fitted.

Eventually I was operated on with nerve block and they used a magnet to disable the defibrillator (alarm inside chest was a bit scary) but still allowing the pacer to continue its good work. The bipolar was used for less than a minute in the end but better safe than sorry hey?

So I had severed my main digit nerve and main artery in my left had, both re connected thanks to the amazing lady surgeon and a team of about 10 inc crash team just in case.
I have a splint and dressing on now for 10 days and fingers crossed (pun intended) I’ll g*t some sensation back, least the ligaments weren’t damaged so I’ll be able to move em.

Had my ICD implant 31/8/23, life is good, still get worried from time to time but essentially I'm getting on with it and enjoying being here for my wife the dogs and loving my work with therapyhuskies.co.uk

Hi

I created this page after joining numerous pages that seem to be dominated by women and their specific needs, which I might add is perfectly fine but as a man I felt the pages were far more supportive towards the female members as they are more open with their emotions and feelings.

The page is for men to articulate their feelings within a group of men only and for them to feel safe that their concerns are given the best possible attention.
