First session of the term last night 🤗

✨️ we talked through positive thoughts with our happy cup circle

✨️ we did a lovely flow using cat/cow, downdog, cobra, plank, thread the needle and child's pose

✨️ we came up with ideas to make ourselves feel calmer to help create our own 'calm cards'

✨️ we relaxed and tried to still our bodies and minds

Lovely start to the term 😊

Hello 👋

Hope everybody has had a great summer so far! I'm starting to feel a little frazzled 🤪

Not long now until back to school which means NEW TERM dates coming this week!!

Excited to get back to yoga 🙏🙏

Last night's session was the last of the term! How quickly that term has flown ☹️

✨️ our last session is always a fun one ready for summer breakup

✨️ we played pass the parcel (yoga style)

✨️ we made impromptu dance videos 🥴

✨️ we used yoga poses to spell out our names

✨️ we played a new game . . Down by the river

✨️ we did the human knot! And almost completed it!

✨️ we finished with a 'what we're looking forward to' Web

✨️After a week off, last night's session was a lovely catch up, lots of chatting and sharing, laughter and

✨️We focussed on butterfly pose this session, doing some breathwork and stretches in the pose followed by an impromptu game of butterfly-pose-catch-basketball!? Not sure what name it would have 😂 attempting to catch other yogis out by getting the ball in their 'hoop', if the yogi catches the ball with their butterfly 🦋 the thrower loses a life. I love how creative my yogis are 😍

Yesterday's session was a warm one!

✨️We practised our plough pose, working up to the pose with cat/cow, downdogs, bridge

✨️ we used balloons 🎈 for our own individual plough workout, then joined in a group game of chaotic plough pass with multiple balloons! 😂

Then we had a little play with our balloons, using our breath, getting some anger out if needed 😤

Last night's first session of the term!

✨️We focussed on warrior 2 pose, using a flow of poses to warm up for warrior 2, a strong pose that uses lots of muscle groups

✨️Practising building strength and listening to our bodies

✨️ we played yoga freeze tag, with warrior 2 as our frozen pose

Ending with some relaxing poses and a relaxation after a warm, energetic session ☺️

Last session of the term last night means games galore!!

✨️ we stretched and practised our seated forward fold, shoulder stand if they wanted to try, supporting the lower back and listening to the body and if they wanted to take it even further, plough pose - followed by bridge pose to counter stretch the back

✨️Followed by games! Duck duck frog and scorpion tag, 2 faves

Ending in a relaxation 😌

Last night's session, I planned a calm session with lots of breathwork, after several of my yogis were doing SATs this week

✨️ we synced breath to movement, using a cobra flow to learn how to strengthen the lower back and engage our core muscles

✨️we practised downdog pose and child's pose

✨️ we synced breath to movement with a wide legged position then tried wide legged forward fold, listening to our bodies

✨️Then we ended the session with a colouring and fortune teller making moment, letting conversations flow about mental health awareness week, chatting about how we calm ourselves and having a go with our fortune tellers

✨️This week is , an important week helping to highlight the importance of mental health.

The theme this year is Community.

'Being part of a safe, positive community is vital for our mental health and wellbeing. We thrive when we have strong connections with other people and supportive communities that remind us, we are not alone. Communities can provide a sense of belonging, safety, support in hard times, and give us a sense purpose.' Mentalhealth.org.uk

✨️Yoga, mindfulness, meditation, exercise . . . These are all ways that can help our mental health: providing moments of 'me' time; boosting dopamine levels without the need for a screen; helping us to release any negative thoughts and worries; helping us to connect to ourselves and realise how awesome we truly are 💕.

And as for community, our little yogi club community brings me so much joy every week 🙏😍🤩

Yesterday's session, we played yoga jenga!

🌼We did lots of poses and some made up exercises or movements, depending on which block they took from the tower.

🌼 then to finish the session, instead of a savasana, we went outside in the sunshine and played with 🫧 bubbles! 🫧 Bubbles are a great resource for practising breathwork and a calming activity to focus on the bubbles' colours and size, the way it moves and floats away. Fun for all ages 😜
